The swordswoman was hardly opposed to coming back here, but there was little reason for them to make the trip, and at this point she just wanted to get back to their journey. She had the swimsuit folded up and ready to tuck into her bag once they'd paid, and before the clock could strike twelve, they were finally out of there.
Stretching one last time after exiting the mall itself, Luca basked momentarily in the sunlight, letting the chill from the air conditioning melt away. "Okay!" Eager to finally get on their way, the swordswoman leaned over to Sylva and placed a hand on her shoulder, looking down at her when she continued. "Now that we're finally finished with our detours, why don't we grab a quick bite to eat and start looking for that trial thing? Maybe see if there's some takeout nearby so we can eat on the road?"

New appearance out of the way, Luca and Sylva were set to finally continue on their journey. Then again, leave it to Luca to actually think of food at the stroke of noon. Admittedly though, Sylva was a tad hungry. "Seriously where do you pack all the food you eat?" Sylva muttered, just audible enough for Luca and other close enough passerby to hear. "But yea, I guess we can get something quick." Looking around, a sign hung over the other buildings across the street. It looked... kinda like food. "What about that place? All the more reason to follow a pro like you around though, ain't it?" Lana insisted. The fact that Ducky had to think hard about when he'd last eaten should have been his clue that he needed to get some food in his belly. "Too long." Lana answered for him with a firm nod. "Come on. Good food, good mood, as my pa' always said." She smiled and began dragging him along, talking about the malasada place she had seen in the area. "What??? Ya can't come to Alola and not have the malasada. It'd be a cryin' shame." She tsked. "Good thing ya got me to take care of ya~" She chuckled.
Lana shrugged at Ducky's surprise about breakfast malasadas. "Well sure. People 'round these parts will stick just about anything in a fry at least once, and if its any good we'll do it again." She winked before asking about his new companion. Katsu seemed more than happy to introduce himself. He had a funny way of talking, in Lana's opinion, but he seemed nice enough. "Well sure! Alola's a great place to travel round. What brings ya to the islands?" If she'd known who she was talking to, she wouldn't have asked such stupid questions.
Lana was rather surprised as Lucina spoke up, looking further over her shoulder to see the gardevoir as she introduced herself as well. "Well shoot darlin', I didn't mean to be rude an' exclude ya! You were just so quiet I don't think I saw yer pretty lil' face~ Howdy! It's nice to meet ya too Lucy. You mind if I call ya Lucy?" She shot her a wide and friendly grin. "An' what's this escort business yer talkin' bout? The way you go an say it like that makes it sound like ya got a mission er somethin' like in one of them fancy spy movies 'er like the Duckster here is some kinda royalty. You gonna be my prince charming, little Duck?" Lana grinned widely, pulling him in to wrap her arm around his neck and ruffle his hair.
The swordswoman was quick to smack her short companion on the arm for her comment, acting as if it wounded her pride. "Hey, we had to skip breakfast because of your little stacking act. That food isn't going anywhere but my stomach, I'll have you know." Her act of offense crumbles with a soft snickering, as Luca rests a hand on Sylva's head to pat it. "Sounds like a plan. Maybe we can see about getting our food to go too."
With a plan of action in mind, Luca took the lead, briskly stepping forth once her gnawing stomach began to fuss. She was quick to fish out the money in her wallet she still had and pay for the both of them, just to speed up the process. The swordswoman wasn't even out of the restaurant yet before she began digging into her food, the wrapped pastry captivating her attention for a short while. Fortunately however, it didn't take a considerable effort for her to wrench herself from their lunch, spinning around to face her companion once they'd both emerged with their take out. "Mmm, now that we've got our fuel," her mouth opens wide and she bites off a large chunk of the malasada for effect, swallowing before she continued. "Now we just gotta find out where this trial is."

It really shouldn't have been surprising at all that Lana had caught on. Honestly, his distress was showing like neon signs. Luckily for Ducky, he wasn't pressed further on that, instead the rancher moved on to the topic that he's gotten so far ahead already. "I already had a few pokemon when I started, so that's probably it. I don't think that qualifies me as a pro." he replied with a bit of a mumble at the end. He didn't get much further with his moping as Lana absolutely insisted on dragging him off for malasadas, chattering brightly. Ducky was barely keeping up with her walking, never mind trying to be as talkative.

Ducky commented on the breakfast malasada. Lana then asked about his tall blond companion, and Katsu introduced himself. Albeit, rather awkwardly. Hopefully the disguised legend wouldn't let too much slip. He was uncomfortable with the idea of letting it be known that he had a legendary tagging along with him, even if Lana did seem trustworthy. Katsu looked down to the samurai boy after Lana asked what brought him to the islands. He wasn't sure what Dakota would want him to say. The Solgaleo hardly had a vague idea himself why he had shown up. "There is a task I must see to, and Dakota has agreed to help me. The islands are very beautiful, just as I last remember them." Katsu replied. The suanni gave him a look as if to say that it was the first time he heard of this agreement.
Thankfully, Lucina had found a decent time to speak up, introducing herself as well. The gardevoir looked down sheepishly as she was complimented, but smiled all the same. "It is fine. Lana chuckled at Ducky's modesty. "Well ya certainly have more experience than us. I have a lot of pokemon but they've been trained to help run the ranch back home, not battle." Lana suggested with a smile. "M'sure we could learn a thing or two from y'all." She was happy that she managed to talk Ducky into having malasada with her at least, greeting Ducky's new companions as they walked. "Ahhh so you're familiar with Alola? Whereabout? I was born and raised in Paniola Ranch, if that weren't obvious already." She chuckled doffing her hat. "What sorta task are you seein' to? Maybe I can help since Ducky and I were planning to travel around together anyhow." She offered, missing the look Ducky gave him.
Turning her attention to Lucina, Lana smiled in understanding. She couldn't help but feel like the gardevoir was troubled. Perhaps for the same reason that something was bothering Ducky. Lana knew gardevoir were typically very empathetic creatures after all. "Well sure. Seems there's a lot to think about lately." She chuckled halfheartedly. It seemed she had her work cut out for her. Thankfully, malasada would help with that. They entered the shop as Ducky explained a bit about his family history. "No kidding? No wonder you an' me get along so well. We're practically cousins~" She chuckled. It seemed Lucy was the island knowledgeable one. "Define 'happened' for me, would ya? This sounds like a good story already." She laughed. "Still, you're a dojo boy from johto who seems to attract good company. Ya ran into me after all~" She shot him a charming grin, but then laughed since she was mostly kidding. The comment had been more directed to his new companions than herself. "Well you don't have to be a romantic prince charming... Just like.... The helpful rescuing kind!" Yeah okay it was a stretch but she was in too deep to back down now. She moved to the counter and ordered a dozen malsadas of all different varieties for the group to try before taking a large booth.
"Map sounds like a good start," the swordsman agreed, using one hand to take another bite of her food and another to fish out the map. She held one end and hung it on its side, letting gravity unfold and display it for them. Another bite later, and the whole thing was laid out, even if at something of an angle. Luca scanned its contents and looked over everything that it had, gleaming the path of each road and checking what each little symbol meant. After a minute, she seemed to know where to go, humming cheerfully as she folded the map back up. "Looks like we just have to go a little ways up the road," she reported. "Looks like there's a pokemon center partway through, and near that we'll find a cave where the trial is at. Ready to go?"
With their destination sorted out, Lucatiel took another large bite out of her Malasada, working through much of it before they hit the road. The day was still fresh and young, so best they get going before it can get too much hotter.

Once more back in the city Naomi stuck to his plan and made his first stop in the city its port, checking the boat's schedule and buying a ticket for the next one to Heahea; which was in a half hour, so their trip to the malasada shop would have to be quick and their order to go. Keeping in mind their time limit, Naomi hurried his team along, back into the depths of the city, and pulled out his wallet in preparation of the order he'd make. The soft burn of the afternoon sky, darkening into a burnt orange as afternoon turned to evening, made all the brighter by the occasional street lamp flickering to life, it reminded the teen of the last time he'd been in the city. It really hadn't been that long ago, perhaps a few days at most, but it truly felt like a life time ago. It'd been then that he'd met Austin, and then, a few hours later, Dallas. In fact, it'd been the latter who'd shown him to the malasada shop he was heading for now!

"Good evening~" He greeted the cashier as he approached the front counter then turned his gaze up to the menu, a soft hum following as he tried to decide what to order. "I would like two sweet malasadas, two spicy, one bitter, and one sour, please." When the price of his purchases flashed at him, Naomi pulled out the exact change (because it was easier that way) and paid the man. Knowing there'd be a wait time, he took a seat on a bench near the counter and waited patiently for his order to be called. Mori, seeing his chance, joined his trainer and laid himself across his lap, making himself comfortable before quickly falling asleep.

It was only five minutes later that Naomi's order was being called, and then handed a large, brown paper bag. Unable to help himself, and just wanting to make sure his order was right, he opened the bag to peer inside of it. He was hit by a wave of heat and the smell of freshly baked bread, strong, and tantalizing, enough to cause his stomach to growl. The teen was quick to roll the bag shut, lest he reach in and grab his treat right then, and with a grin bid the cashier a goodbye before he urged himself and his team out the door. They still had a boat to catch, after all.
"We will eat once we get on the boat," Naomi promised his pokemon, catching the hunger-filled gaze Moriyoshi and even Ieyasu gave the bag, before he broke out into a light jog to get back to the docks. By the time they arrived people were already boarding their designated boat which, from what Naomi could tell, had only just docked; this was fantastic timing! He quickly joined the stream of boarding passengers, and quietly urged his pokemon to stay close, and within minutes he was settling himself into a chair on the deck of the boat. Naomi sighed gently, glad to have an actual seat, but didn't give himself to get too comfortable just yet, and started divvying up the malasadas. The cooks had been kind enough to label each confection, so there was no need for guesswork, and soon all four of his pokemon were happily gnawing away at their treats.
"You better keep an eye on my gear, greenhorn, I don't want you accidentally dropping it and having the screen cracked," Rotom warned. "I promise, no harm shall befall your 'dex, Rotom." Naomi, who'd set aside his own, spicy, malasada, held tight to the Rotomdex as the pokemon inside prepared to vacate his space in order to eat. Rotom sighed, but held onto whatever other comment he had and phased out of the electronic. The screen went dark, and Naomi lifted his head up to look at the pokemon that now hovered just above him. "Ro?" Holding the same, unimpressed, expression as the one on the Rotomdex's screen, Rotom stared back at Naomi before moving closer to the bench to inspect his sweet malasada, then begin eating it once it'd passed his inspection. Naomi smiled and placed the, now empty, Rotomdex in his lap, before picking up his own snack.
It wouldn't be long now and soon they'd be arriving in Akala island, where the next trials awaited them.

Ducky furrowed his brows a bit as Lana insisted he had more experience that she and her pokemon did, explaining that they had been trained to help at the ranch, not battle. He was about to argue that the same was true for his pokemon that he had had. Except he did have fighting experiences with them. He would have normally commented on it but was tempered as he remembered his conversation with Vince. Maybe it was too irresponsible to just talk about his clan openly like that. The samurai remained quiet, letting Katsu take the spotlight for a bit, since Lana was chatting it up with the disguised legendary.
Katsu was more than happy to continue the discussion, but couldn't help but make a face hinting at his confusing predicament. "Ah. I have been all over Alola so often that ... I might as well be from all of Alola. I would have to say that Ula'Ula is something like I would call home." Katsu replied. When he was asked about his task, he opened his mouth, but hesitated. He didn't even know the exact task that he needed to do. Just that he needed a Suanni to do it. He had been away for so long that his memories were quite a blur. "All I am able to say at this time is that it is a matter of great importance... At least, that is what I feel." he carefully admitted. Ducky intervened into the conversation, uncomfortable with the topic and also surprised at Lana deciding that they were going to be travel companions now. "Y-yeah, Katsu hasn't actually.... told me exactly what this task is, so really I'm keeping him safe until he remembers, I guess?" Ducky offered his excuse for the legend's lacking response.
Lucina folded her arms in front of her in an elegant manner, nodding her head slightly after Lana acknowledged her. She wasn't sure what more she could say about the situation without making Dakota uncomfortable, but she could tell that the alolan rancher had enough sense in her to see something was clearly up. Luci resigned back to being a silent listener, following along as the suanni explained how he had had ancestors that came from the islands.
Dakota let out a half-hearted chuckle at Lana's reaction to hearing that he had some alolan heritage. It wasn't anything to do with what she said, just that he still couldn't quite get completely out of his dreary mood, especially with having remembered why he was so distraught in the first place. She went on to ask more about what happened, interested in how he had come to meet Katsu. The samurai couldn't really think of a way to explain it without revealing the secret, feeling a bit conflicted. As he tried to come up with a tale, they reached the malasada place.
Which is when Katsu stopped, eyeing the doorway of the shop. He may be illusioned very well but... well, it was going to be near impossible to squeeze himself inside. "Dakota. Lana. I will wait outside for your return." Katsu stated, moving to step aside and out of the way of any nearby customers entering and exiting. "I'll keep him company." Daiki finally spoke up again, eager for the excuse. The zoroark didn't want to accidentally give her another excuse to punch him again, so it was probably best for him to stay out here with Katsu. Not to mention, it would be more difficult to keep his illusion up on the legendary if he had been inside and the Solgaleo decided to wander off.
Ducky, having a feeling he understood Katsu's reasoning for not going inside with them, accepted it rather easily though he was concerned that Lana would question it. "Come on, I wanna see the malasadas already~" he exclaimed, taking Lana by the hand to pull her into the restaurant with him before she could ask. He still didn't quite have a story to tell her about the 'happened'. Once inside, she ordered some malasadas and they sat down at a booth. Ducky let out Mizuki, since he figured his starter might enjoy trying out some of these treats with them. He had been flattered that Lana joked around with him, though he had still been too preoccupied to respond directly to it.
Now that they were sitting at a booth, Mizuki up on the seat beside him and Lucina, Ducky leaned on the table with a bit of a sigh. "I'd like to be the rescuing kind but it seems I'm not needed nor wanted for that..." he mumbled under his breath, then leaned back in his seat, leaving his arms on the table in front of him. "So... uh.... what do you know about Solgaleo? I've heard it's a pokemon that's seen as some kind of deity of the islands." Dakota chanced to ask as inconspicuously as he could. There was really no good story he could come up with for how Katsu 'happened', so he was considering letting her know the truth, since if she was really going to be travelling with him for a while, she would find out sooner or later. After briefly letting Lana respond, the samurai leaned back over the table again, as if trying to share a secret. "Because.... Katsu is actually...." Ducky started to reveal quietly. "A Solgaleo." Lucina finished telepathically to Lana for her travel companion.

Lana smiled as Katsu explained his familiarity with Alola. "Ah you sure are lucky. I wish I coulda traveled Alola growin' up. Been stuck in Paniola practically all my life. Not that I'd complain, it's a great town with good people, but man... It sure seems small when ya compare it to all of Alola, much less the whole world!" She chuckled. "Ula'Ula? Yeah, I've heard good things about that island." She nodded. In terms of the task he had for Ducky, it seemed he didn't... Remember? Or that's what it seemed to be according to Ducky. "Wait, did the big guy lose his memory or something like that?" She asked looking between Katsu and Ducky with her eyebrows raised.
Once they reached the malsada shop, Lana found it a bit odd that Katsu wasn't coming inside with them, looking at him with a curious frown. "Ya ain't hungry none? I mean that's fine, but ya can still come an' sit for a spell. S'not like you gotta eat to stay'er anythin'...." She suggested lightheartedly, unaware of the actual problem Katsu faced. Still, Daiki insisted he'd keep Katsu company, and Ducky insisted that he wanted to hurry and eat, so Lana shrugged and let it be, following Ducky inside. "Maybe we should get him something to go...?" She wondered aloud quietly as she and Ducky took their seats. They were quickly brought some glasses of ice water while they waited for their malasadas, so she drank her water and let Ducky talk but he still seemed out of it. "Sure you are, your princess just may be in a different castle is all, y'know?" She insisted confidently, exuding total faith in Ducky. "Shoot, if I ever found myself in a bind, I'd certainly want ya 'round as a helpin' hand." She insisted.
Lana was surprised as Ducky suddenly changed the subject to solgaleo. Frankly, she first suspected it was just a ploy to distract her from whatever was eating him, but she took the bait anyways. "Well sure. Just about any Alolan worth their salt knows about the guardian deities. Sure, I may not look too much into all the details, but I've known the legends and prayed to Tapu Lele to help heal sick pokemon on our ranch. May not have ever seen 'em myself but I have seen badly wounded pokemon healed overnight... Suffice to say, I know they're out there watching over us." She folded her arms and regarded Ducky curiously, waiting for him to get to the point of his question if he had one, otherwise, she was going to call him out on dodging the subject. Thankfully Ducky hadn't pulled the subject of solgaleo out of the blue, but his following comment did have Lana choke on her water and look outside their window at Katsu again after she recovered from coughing. "Say what now...?!" She stared long and hard at Ducky and Lucina and then grinned uncertainly. "Ohh I see. Y'all are messin' with me, aren't ya? Go on an' laugh. You almost had me going, but I'll have ya know I ain't that gullible." She chuckled nervously and took another sip of water before setting the glass down.

Katsu listened intently as Lana expressed a slight envy for how he had been all over Alola. It seemed she didn't have much experience traveling the region, despite being an apparent local. The disguised legend left the talking to Ducky, however, as it came up that he didn't actually recall what it was he was supposed to be doing. "It seems like it." he replied to Lana, but they reached the malasada place.
Katsu made himself an excuse for not coming inside, merely shaking his head and offering a smile as Lana asked if he was hungry. "I do not require sustenance, but thank you for the invitation." the legend replied simply, watching as Ducky pulled Lana into the shop to prevent further questioning. "Ya know, my illusions can only cover you so much. Think you should be more aware of the way you say some things." Daiki commented to the other once the humans were out of earshot. The illusioned legend tilted his head. "Do i talk strangely?" Katsu questioned, gaining a pat to his side from the zoroark as he simply nodded. Katsu hummed, pondering on how he could fix his choice of words. Times have certainly changed, even if he couldn't quite pinpoint how everything used to be. Daiki, however, took interest in some passing people talking about some kind of carnival going on. The fox immediately wanted to go, but he'd have to wait for Ducky to come back out before he could bring it up. If the malasadas weren't enough to get the samurai in a better mood, then the spookival surely would work.
"Yeah, we'll bring out extras just in case." Ducky said in response to Lana's comment about getting something to go for Katsu. They sat at a booth, being given water as they waited for their malasadas to come out. Mizuki patiently sat beside Ducky, yellow gaze staring out over the tabletop. Lucina was sitting on the other side of Ducky, her hands in her lap. The samurai's brows furrowed a bit as Lana insisted that his princess was in a different castle, that he'd surely be able to be the 'rescuing kind of prince'. "Thanks.... if only my friend would feel the same..." he grumbled, but then changed the subject.
He asked about Solgaleo, and he and Lucina admitted Katsu's true identity. However, Lana was in disbelief, of course. "N-no, I'm being serious! Just keep quiet about it please - I really don't want that kind of attention." Ducky insisted, part of him a bit upset that he wasn't taken seriously yet again. Why did that seem to be something that happened so often with him? Even if Lana was rather valid in doubting such a thing, it still stung a bit in his more sensitive mood. Lucina raised a hand to pat Ducky's shoulder soothingly. "I assure you we are not messing with you, Lana. You can see for yourself after, if you wish." Lucina spoke up to back up Ducky.
The malasadas were finally delivered to the table, Mizuki putting her paws up on the table, licking her lips. Ducky picked a malasada from the dozen that Lana had ordered, pulling off a piece to pop into his mouth. "Oh! It's like a filled doughnut, but also like fried dough. These are great!" Ducky commented, offering a piece to Mizuki as she pawed at him for it. Lucina held a malasada rather delicately, looking at it in suspicion as if she somewhat doubted it was edible. After a bit, she took a small nibble at it before deciding she liked it at least enough to continue eating it quietly. The suanni shared his first malasada with his starter before reaching for another.

Lana gave Katsu an odd look but otherwise smiled and nodded, respecting his wishes. Still, he sure was a bit of an odd fellow. Perhaps talking like that was just the mark of someone who was well traveled? Lana had certainly heard all sorts of strange accents from foreigners coming into Paniola. It was always a bit of a culture shock, for both her and for the travelers, but Lana liked to believe she was hospitable, and she was certainly a sucker for a good story about the outside world. Ducky agreed to bring a few malasada for Katsu just in case, but Lana didn’t miss the fact that he’d been hurrying them along.
As curious as Lana was about Katsu, there was the more important matter of cheering Ducky up from whatever had gotten him down. He finally managed to let slip that he wished a friend of his had thought the same way she did, and with that admission, Lana dug deeper. "Another friend besides the big guy? You sure are popular~" She chuckled, keeping it lighthearted. "So tell me about this other friend’a yours. Is that what’s been eatin’ ya, that they don’t think yer the rescuin’ type?" She probed in spite of Ducky’s attempts to change the subject.
Eventually, once they had this other business straightened out, she allowed her curiosity to take over and talk to Ducky about Alolan legends, but when Ducky and Lucina insisted that Katsu was a solgaleo, Lana couldn’t help but brush the claims off as a prank. However, Ducky’s obviously wounded pride and Lucina’s insistence that they were telling the truth made her reconsider. Frankly, though Lana hadn’t known her for long, she didn’t think Lucina was the type to pull pranks like this—like Daiki—and while Lana could see Ducky trying to do such a think in good humor, she couldn’t see why Ducky in his current mood would try to do something like this as a prank, which was why Lana was having trouble really wrapping her brain around it. "I’m sorry but ya can’t just go dropping a bomb like that so casually on a gal and expect her not to raise a ruckus…!" Lana whispered, desperately trying to keep her voice low as Ducky asked. She would definitely need some proof of the matter though, as Lucina so kindly offered to provide. "Uh… S-sure… Just give me some time to get back in the saddle again…" She nodded, removing her hat and scratching her head.
Despite being thrown for a loop, Lana supposed she was sort of glad to know what Katsu was, even if she did still have some trouble believing it all. To help settle things down, their malasadas were delivered and Ducky grabbed one to try. "Yeah! Somethin’ like that." She agreed, taking one of the baked goods for herself. Along with their malasadas, the waitress had also brought a flier advertising some sort of festival, and Lana gave it a look as she thoughtfully finished the sugary treat off. "Looks like there’s some kind’a big ol Halloween carnival going on in… Huh… Where in the sam heck is this place?" She’d never heard of it before, but then again she hadn’t heard of a lot of places, but it was a lot harder to go to this thing if she didn’t know where it was.
