He was sure now that he thought about it, he looked like a final fantasy character or something. He shrugged it off before helping to look for Yukie and Diana. He like Riley was surprised to find them both, together under a tree. They hadn't gone back to fighting. In fact, they were holding a normal conversation. Maybe they just needed to get it out of their system them after all?
Yukie jumped up and greeted Verka with a huge throwing the male off guard as she buried her face into his chest. Verka, confused but not willing to disrupt the moment wrapped his arms around her shoulders. It wasn't until Riley inquired about the Oreburgh badge did she pulled free. "No. The only badge I own is from the Johto region." She replied. The memory of the gym battle instantly replied in her mind causing a slight shiver to crawl up her back. It wasn't a pleasant memory. Falkner, whom she still held a grudge against wasn't looking so bad anymore. Not now that she had a new perspective on things. Really the only reason she disliked him was that he had beaten her at her own game. Though had she not been beaten and arrested she'd never have met Verka so the memory was bittersweet.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I really should be getting back." Diana said giving Yukie a final hug goodbye as she spoke. Yukie's head shifted to look up at her sister as she spoke. "Verka, I trust you'll take good care of my big sister?" Verka nodded and smiled but kept quite. Yukie took that as her quo to chime in. "He's done well so far," Diana raised an eyebrow at the comment but relented not to ask any questions. As long as Yukie is happy she told herself. Letting Yukie go, Diana moved to put herself between the group and the Pokemon Center as she pulled out a heavily work poke'ball from her belt. From it, she released an absolutely massive Skarmory. "And just think about what I said Yuk's." Diana climbed atop the bird waving as she took off to return home. "Yuk's" Verka repeated with a teasing voice. "Shut it!"
Watching Diana leave left Yukie feeling alone again. had they been able to mend their broken relationship over a battle? Nearly eight years of drama between them boiled down to sheer dumb luck. Yukie tried to push the negativity aside to focus her attention back on Riley. "I've made up my mind!" Yukie began clenching her fist in front of her. "I'm going to take on this region's gym leaders!" There was no clear motivation behind her decision beyond to help give her a new direction in life. "It least until I find a new purpose in life."

Yukie exclaimed she was going to take on the gyms.. "Yeah!" ..until she found a purpose in life. "Okay!" Better than nothing, Riley supposed.
Oh, but that would mean going all the way to Oreburgh City for the first gym. "The bike path!" she exclaimed suddenly. Riley hurried to explain. "If you want to go to Oreburgh to do the first gym, you can take the bike path! It makes it a lot faster, since I guess you can't use fly yet."
The last time Riley had been in Oreburgh was when she went there to try and find Mael. It was a scary memory, but a good one too because she had succeeded and gotten her pokemon back. It made her think of Kuraz, and the little Amalia. Had they made it home safe? How was the lucario doing? Riley wished he hadn't had to leave, but she understood. He had responsibilities back home, and Amalia was a princess. She was just glad their paths had crossed, even if it wasn't under the best circumstances.
"I don't mind biking with you guys, if you want to go down." They really were fortunate that it was so close. Right now, Riley was thinking that she could catch some of the wild pokemon she hadn't caught last time she was there, or maybe she could use another incense too. The city was so close she didn't mind a quick detour down and back up again. She wasn't in a hurry to win gym battles anymore, so maybe she could just spend the time with her pokemon and filling up the pokedex.

Verka kept pace with Yukie even though his long legs could put him strides ahead of both her and Riley. Not that his advantage would tell him where to go. Yukie avoided eye contact the whole way. Her eyes were locked center stage at her feet the entire way thinking. She'd sort of blacked out for a while not even realizing that Verka and Riley had gotten the bikes until she found herself atop the confound contraption facing her doom. Yukie swallowed hard sweating bullets as she faced the bike road ahead. "Damn it." She cursed under her breath. "Whats that?" Verka chimed in leaning over on his bike to hear. "Huh, oh nothing."
"You ready Riley?" Verka asked taking the lead with a rather confident and playful push off. He was off and Riley was sure to be close behind. It was now, or never. "Here goes nothing!" Yukie yelped like a kicked dog as she pushed off following his lead. A little wobbly at first Yukie quickly found her balance, but not her breaks. Like a child with a new toy, Yukie peddled harder and harder giggling and laughing as she quickly overtook Verka and Riley both. Gravity has to eventually catch up with all things, she was no exception. "Wait, how do you break!" Yukie screamed right before plowing head-on into a wall with a sickening thud. "Yukie!"
The bike was thankfully in one piece but Yukie was bloodied and bruised and spread out on the road like road kill. "Are you alright?" Verka asked jumping off his bike mid run coming to her aid. Yukie was conscious staring up at the passing clouds. "Why the hell didn't you bre~""I don't know how!" Yukie interrupted sitting up and wiping the blood from under her nose on the sleeve of her jacket. Her face hurt like it was swelling on the left side. Verka just shook his head standing back up to collect his bike. "Why didn't you say something?" Yukie looked away turning red in the face. "Because I didn't want you to laugh at me.' As they paused at the crest of the bike path, Riley fitted her helmet, cranking the plastic inner frame until it was snug around her head. Verka asked if she was ready. She clipped the helmet strap under her chin. "Yeah." She kicked off after him. The first few turns of her wheels she moved jaggedly, handlebars wobbling and legs catching in the rotation.Then she straightened out, remembered how to ride, and was picking up speed.
It was thrilling to be zipping along almost under her own power, feeling every jolt of the ground in her arms gripping the handlebars. It was similar yet different to clinging to Zeke's back, zipping through the air. Despite her helmet, the breeze was nice. The only thing that made the trip better was knowing that she wouldn't have to make it again, in the opposite and uphill direction. She consciously clicked the gears on the bike, compensating for the easy downward slope. Verka was beside her, just a little ahead. She turned her head, curious if Yukie was enjoying herself.

A Yukie-shaped blur flew past. Oh. Oh no.
Riley's brain didn't even work fast enough to shout before Yukie went crashing into the wall. Somehow, she hadn't even conceived that Yukie, who seemed so confident and cool, might not know how to ride a bike. Or at least how to break.
Riley pumped her breaks, coming to a stop much slower compared to Verka's reckless skid (and of course slower than Yukie). She over-passed them and had to walk her bike back up to join them. The whole while she was feeling guilty- she was the one who suggested that they take the bike path. She should've been sure Yukie and Verka were really okay with it, instead of just rushing ahead without thinking. Stupid. Haven't you learned to think first?
Her heart sank even further when she saw Yukie's face, bloodied and swollen. At least she was able to stand, with Verka's help. Riley's grip twisted on the handlebars, wishing Yukie would accuse her of being thoughtless. Then maybe the guilt would be a little less. "Are you okay, Yukie?" Riley still didn't know the exact nature of why Yukie had been in the hospital before, and she vaguely worried this could have serious consequences (aside from the possibility of a concussion). She bit her lip. "If...if you want, Zeke could carry you the rest of the way?" she offered. Zeke had four wings, and so was able to fly smoothly through the air. He could probably go slow enough to not bother Yukie if he was careful.

Verka was mad, yeah but he was clearly more concerned with her safety than the fact she'd not spoken up in the first place. despite what he was saying. Yukie could tell the difference between his tone of voice and his words. He was saying one thing but meaning another. "I'm fine, ok." Yukie insisted wiping her bloody nose on the sleeve of her jacket as Riley joined the fray. Her concern mixing with Verka's. "You know for the girly girl you are sometimes, you ignore pain more than you should." Verka remarked leaving Yukie to clean herself up while he collected her bike. "Girly girl?" Yukie repeated in a rather feminine voice unlike her own.
Verka propped the bike up at Yukie's side before motioning to Riley. "Tom boy~' Then motioned to Yukie. "Girly, girl." Yukie turned a slightly deeper shade of red realizing what Verka was implying. Riley was very clearly used to being on her own, she was not. She hadn't been on her own in ... well, months! In fact, since her failed attempt to infiltrate the Violet city gym almost a year ago now, no even before then! She had had the crew of the TX-48. Yukie had come reliant on others, she'd lost her sense of independence and self-sufficiency. Was it a bad thing though? Yukie had to actually consider her life without Verka for a moment but in the end smiled. "Ok I get it." Yukie shrugged rolling her shoulders to loosen the muscle. "I'm just not used to asking for help." She admitted.
Yukie gave an awkwardly lopsided smile to Riley considering the option o riding the massive bat Pokemon the rest of the way. It was appealing but. "Thanks, but no thanks." She replied pulling from her belt Silf's Pokeball. "I need to learn to ask for help but also~" She pausing clipping the ball back to her belt. "When Silf evolves if Silf evolves for me. I want my first time riding a Crobat to be with him." Looking to Verka Yukie swallowed hard taking hold of her bike unsure if she was ready to give this a second go. Nope! "I'll just walk this down. I'll meet you at the end." Verka rolled his eyes but let the topic go. "alright. Just be careful." The male said reaching down and snapping off a ball from Yukies belt. "Wait, what are you~" A flash of light gave way to Prakem, an Ekans who instantly wrapped itself around Yukie's neck like a scarf. "Just in case."
Once at the end of the road, Yukie delivered the bike to the check in, waving to Verka and Riley before ducking into the rest stop to clean up. Yukie's naturally androgynous appearance made the switch between male and females attire seamless. A worth while skill to have, especially now considering her options in clean clothes. She'd been traveling in her male attire but making no attempt to hide her ample chest. Stepping back out to greet the pair Yukie was now dressed in a shoulderless sundress, her hair let down showing its impressive length for the first time, possibly ever! Prakem still wrapped around her neck in his naturally relaxed but protective fashion. "I'm surprised you didn't change sooner" Verka teased. "I've more restraint than to strip in public jerk!"
Looking to Riley Yukie felt she should say something. She'd looked pretty beaten up before about the crash. Blushing Yukie looked away as she spoke. "It was my fault." She said. "I should have said something but I was caught up in over thinking things." Verka's jaws just about dropped in shock. "Where's the snide remark? The insult? The personal jab!" He asked leaning over the red headed fem with an expression that could only mean "Where is my Yukie and who are you?" "Piss off a** hole!" Yukie snapped turning on the male. "There's your snide remark!" Verka laughed ruffling her hair taking a step back. "Your roots are showing." Yukies hand jerked to her head. "Again!"

Riley looked from Verka to Yukie. "Girly girl?" she said at the same time as Yukie, her voice low and disbelieving. Yukie, a girly girl? From what Riley had seen, she didn't act like it at all. She looked at the two as Verka brought her into it, though she still didn't get it. But Verka must know Yukie better... maybe Riley just hadn't noticed, somehow? She had a small, bemused smile on her face, because the thought of Yukie as a girly girl, after everything she'd seen, seemed pretty silly.
Riley didn't take Yukie's denial to ride Zeke hard; in fact, she was very pleased. "Mhm that makes sense." She would feel the same if she hadn't been able to ride Zeke yet. She was glad to have something she could have in common with Yukie. Not to mention, she hadn't thought before she spoke up but what would they do with Yukie's bike if she did? Zeke might be able to carry it, which would be a pretty silly sight...
As they started to set off again, Riley at first tried to stick with Yukie. She was pumping the brakes constantly, and with the downward slope it was just too difficult. She ended up going ahead, though she waited at the bottom for Yukie before dropping her bike off. It seemed like injuries like hers weren't too uncommon around here, and Riley managed to beg some off the man at the turn-in. She shoved them at Yukie before she went to get cleaned up, trying to get her to accept them.
When Yukie walked back out, Riley's jaw dropped. "Woah. You do look like a girl!" She was talking specifically about Verka's calling Yukie a "girly girl", which she now kind of could see. Though she still didn't really feel like Yukie's spitfire personality really fit. Riley herself was happy to be labeled a tomboy, though she did run a hand through her hair wistfully as she looked at Yukie. It was too bad she couldn't be pretty like that. She was glad Yukie didn't look too hurt though. When Yukie apologized, it kind of made Riley feel worse. "Are you-" she paused. She was about to ask if Yukie was really okay but somehow that didn't feel like the right thing to say. She realized with a start that Yukie was genuinely sorry, probably as guilty-feeling as Riley. "I'm glad you're not too hurt," she said instead, with a big grin as Verka lost his s**t. His disbelief was funny, and Riley chuckled, feeling better. She almost joked that Yukie's personal insults were only for people she ~liked~ but felt like she shouldn't push it...right now.
Instead, she puzzled over Verka's comment after he stared down at Yukie's head. "Roots?" Since Riley had never had a friend who dyed their hair, she didn't make the immediate connection.

Im just~" Yukie didn't know what to say to get this lady to go the hell away and as much as it pissed her off she was on the other side of that door, she also provided an outline. "My boy friend wants to see me without the red hair~" Yukie stammered with a half laugh. "But I hate how I look without it.." There was a moment of silence before the reply. The last gym leader was a cake walk but that didn't mean this one would be the same. According to Riley, this Gardenia was a grass type leader. That meant Zult, Prakem, Silf, Rezmor, and Ulf, would be her heavy hitters but she defiantly wanted to give more training time to Ulf. It also would be too predictable to open with a fire or flying type so Yukie instead decided that Iisk would lead the charge and make an bide to overwhelm Gardenia with speed and power.
Once at the gym the now renewed brunette slung open the doors and waltzed to the challenger's box. Just because her hair wasn't crimson red anymore didn't mean she was any less the spite fire, loud mouth, abrasive little c**t she always was. "Hey, cannon fodder!"
