With all his pokemon evolving, Zak was actually feeling... motivated. Ready to move forward; to charge the next gym, or, even, to tackle the damn mission. Unfortunately, the next gym was water type, and he wasn't quite sure his pokemon were ready for it. Ten could.... possibly be taught some moves, if he remembered right, and he did need to update her moveset. Braviary was at least not at a disadvantage -- none of his pokemon were, really -- but the rest were all of the same type, and didn't exactly hold any surprises in their movesets. At least, none that would help here. But he could always swap Boo in and let her take a swing at battling.... He'd have to update her moveset too, though. Still, it wouldn't be too hard.... he might be better off training his pokemon more, but it would probably be doable. He checked his communicator for any messages, frowning some when he saw there were none, but putting it away without much more thought. He'd take a few more minutes to prepare, then head off to challenge.... Wake, was it?

A little while longer, and Zak was abotu ready to leave, having washed up and gotten his things together. He was just strapping his watch back on when it went off with a message alert, and he checked it over, brow furrowed. Fully expecting it to be from work, urging some movement on his mission, he was surprised to find it was from Apollo, of all people. How long had it even been since he heard from him? He honestly had no idea what his last text had been, besides perhaps about meeting up... If he recalled correctly, they'd been talking about that. Given the text, yeah, that had been the content of his last message to the guy, but he had to read back to remember where he had actually suggested meeting. Scrunching up his face in confusion, Zak scratched the back of his head and stared at his own message. Icirrus? Seriously? Huh....
Dropping his hand, the blunette looked off to the side, frowning with a hard stare. Honestly, so much had been going on lately, most of it in his own head, he had completely lost track of the conversation. Shaking off the thoughts, he ran his hand back through his hair and passed on responding, for now. He was pretty sure he could go defeat Wake and still make it back to Icirrus be... foooore Apollo? Or maybe about the same time.

Deciding not to think about it too much, he texted back a quick response to Apollo. He absently checked the time, doing a mental calculation, before moving his attention to his pokemon. Just in case he did need Boo, he wanted to have her in his party and ready to battle. Plus, he really didn't need Deys active, at the moment. It gave his mind a moment to spin over things, too. For instance... this detour with Apollo. He still had his mission hanging omnipresently in his timeline, but he wasn't sure when it would take over. That would kind of make enjoying Apollo's presence a little.... difficult, but, then again, enjoying the presence of attractive men was a particular skill of his. Smirking to himself, he shook his head, knocked off the power to his watch, and recalled his pokemon, save Braviary. At least now he could travel on his own.

Being able to fly (with assistance) was an amazing feeling, liberating and exhilarating, and one she didn't want to come down from, literally. But, there were things that needed to be done, and they couldn't very well be completed off the ground. Jinx nudged for Tanz to drop, she was well trained and responded easily to commands, and the dragon folded her wings in for the landing. Heavy wing beats picked up winds strong enough to stir the grass and send pebbles racing across the ground, and Jinx waited for Tanz to physically touch down before hopping off of her. She stretched her legs, then arched her back, it'd take her some time before she adapted the right posture. Until then...
She released Opal and Sphene, the former for training and the latter just to explore, then gestured for Opal to handle the bat that was so graciously fluttering towards them. She pressed a hand to her temple, massaging a headache she could already feel coming. It took her a moment of controlled breathing before she felt herself ready to dive back into the fray, so to speak, and she turned her head to the fluttering pokemon. Was this what everyday pokemon had to deal with? How loathsome.

Just how many pokemon could be attracted to this candle? And when would it go out for good? Opal played with these questions as she slammed her head into the face of another bat, altering its course and making it reconsider its previous actions. She rubbed her forehead, in the same place that she'd hit the pokemon, then cast a glance over to the candle, the item keeping her in this battle loop. Its size had been greatly reduced since last, with only a little over half of the wax still standing, but there was still enough to make it through... the rest of the day? And that was too long for her taste.
"You should buy a few items," Opal suggested, and turned to look at her ward. Jinx turned to look at her, her slightly raised eyebrow prompted the pokemon to continue on, and explain herself. "Imperium gave you a few things, but it's not enough. You can make the upcoming battle go much faster if I have something to hold." It was a win-win for both of them, since neither wanted to spend more time than necessary battling. Jinx hummed, loud enough to be heard, before she turned her back to Opal, and spent time patting at her pockets. "Fine."

After mulling over Opal's suggestion, and deciding to go with it, it was only fair that she took the lead on this little side-project; she had the money--which she initially had to check for--but she didn't know where they could buy such items, or even what kind of items to buy. Opal, not surprised at this lack of leadership, gave herself a minute to get her bearings and make an assessment on where to go. The PokeMart was the best place to go, she knew, but where exactly that was something she had yet to determine. She didn't want to wander aimlessly until they found what they were looking for, it'd be a waste of everyone's time.
Simply looking around from one standpoint wasn't as effective as Opal could've hoped, surprisingly, and she resorted to acting for directions from the first stranger that came their way. Once she was confident on where to go, Opal lead the trio to the Pokemart, all while casting semi-nervous glances towards 'Tanz', as much as she didn't want to admit it those pokedex entries had unnerved her; it was bad enough they had an omnivorous monster and an arsonist plant with them, but now a murderous dragon. Uuuugh, she was getting a headache.
Putting her headache aside, Opal walked inside of the 'mart with Jinx behind her, then was given the 'privilege' of roaming the store on her own, searching each aisle and reading several different item descriptions to find what it was they needed. It was a cursory stroll that took over ten minutes, but by the time she approached the counter, items in hand, she was confident that she'd bought exactly what they-- she needed. Jinx, who had waited by the door while her pokemon did her shopping, now strolled over to the counter with her wallet at the ready, but gave Opal's items a glance before handing over the exact change. A TM, some candy, a few larger versions of a potion, and... a stone tablet? She could understand the former, maybe it held a powerful move, but she had no idea what the latter was. But, she trusted Opal enough not to worry whether or not she'd bought something actually useful.
Once their purchases were made the two left the mart, only to find the streets empty, save for a few people walking hurriedly to unknown destinations. Instinctively Jinx lifted her eyes to the sky, a grin finding its way across her lips when she saw Tanz amongst the clouds; she'd leave her be, for now. Meanwhile Opal, not as impressed as her ward, went about learning the TM, taking a firm hold of the disc between both nubs hands and concentrating hard from within, as odd as it was the specific technique always seemed to work for her, and within seconds she snapped her head up, feeling a new sort of power come about her.

"Here." While doing her best to unwrap the first of the candies she'd purchased--mostly because she was feeling a bit peckish, but also because they'd been advertised to increase strength--Opal used her psychic abilities to float the three max potions to Jinx, who stared the bottles, outlined in a faint pink glow, before grabbing them from out of the air and stuffing them into her bag. Opal nodded, popping the candy into her mouth and swishing it about her mouth, it didn't have the worst flavor, then looked up at the sky. "You should call her in. She's part flying, so there's a chance she can help out," she advised. Jinx considered it for a moment, then promptly placed two fingers into her mouth and whistled for Tanzanite, her eyes sparkling when the Salamence immediately responded, shoving further into the air and disappearing from sight for several seconds, before she began shooting down like a rocket.
"You're going to help battle," Jinx explained, once Tanzanite landed, and waited for any sort of sign of confirmation (a nod, a growl, a shaking of the wings), before motioning for the two pokemon to start moving, she wouldn't be far behind. Opal contended herself with eating her candy as they walked, taking the time to savor each piece before crunching down on it and shoving in another piece, while Tanzanite occupied herself by looking about the city with a stoic gaze. Sphene, who had been more or less a silent tag along, continued doing what he did best: tagging along. Jinx had to admire that about him, he was good at sneaking about without getting left behind.
The inside of the gym was... not what Jinx expected it to be. She'd expected something outlandish and pokemon related, not an interior so... literal; they were about to face off against a fighting type gym leader in an actual gym, the woman had to return Tanzanite just so they all had room to maneuver around the equipment and workout fanatics. Still though, out of the three she'd been in, this was by far her favorite, and absently she flexed her fingers. While no means an avid gym-goer, there was something satisfying about hitting a punching bag over and over again, and she rather missed it.
Now wasn't the time to get distracted, however. Stepping into the literal ring, expanded to accommodate an actual pokemon battle, Jinx found herself facing a small young woman, the color of her hair the brightest thing about her. There wasn't much to note, but she couldn't help but to think that the woman's hair would've looked a lot better if it were blue.

A blank stare was all that was given to the gym leader as Jinx took her badge and other, miscellaneous, items. The battle had been annoying, it'd taken too long and she'd even been forced to heal Opal mid-turn during one round, which had forced Tanzanite to remain passive. Something she could tell the flying brute didn't like; she could relate. For the sake of saving time, once her items were received Jinx kept both Tanzanite and Opal in their balls, to help cut down on the travel time between the gym and the Pokemon Center. She allowed Sphene to remain out, further saving her a bit of time when yet another dragon-type pokemon wiggled its way out of the literal woodwork (that damn incense was still burning strong). The bud made quick work of the mop-furred dragon, and victoriously expelled a plume of fire, before shuffling after his trainer.
After shoving her pokemon off to a surprised Nurse Joy, Jinx flopped herself onto a chair in the lobby. Now that she had her third badge what was she supposed to do? Train more and collect yet another badge? That was too repetitive and annoying, how actual trainers managed to enjoy this and make a living out of it was far beyond her. This was boring, she was bored, and idle hands, or minds, were the devil's work; she'd heard that somewhere. The devil liked fire, didn't he? She liked fire too, she also liked starting them...
Before she could delve further into her pyromaniac ideas her bag began to vibrate, and after rifling around through it Jinx pulled out her communicator. Kaeden's face flashed on the screen. Her mood quickly clearing, Jinx picked up immediately. "Kaeden! How're you?" She sat up in her chair, fixing her posture, even if he couldn't see her, there was a need to make herself presentable. "Hey J, I'm fine. Hope you are too," her brother answered, and in the background she could hear papers rustling. "Sorry, I can't talk for too long. I just needed to let you know, that mission I told you about earlier is starting sooner than I anticipated. You've got to get going now." There was a pause, followed quickly by a sigh. "I know this is short notice, but I need you to go to Cinnabar Island. You'll get more details on your way there."
There was a lot to take in, mostly the fact that Kaeden wouldn't be on the phone for long. Jinx began to fiddle with her bang. "Alright, I'll leave now," she eventually responded, hair in disarray. The teal-haired woman stood to her feet and cast an impatient glare over to Nurse Joy, now that she knew she was on a time crunch the nurse taking her sweet time wasn't going to do. "Thanks, J. I'll call you once you guys have finished." 'Guys'? So she wasn't going alone. That figured. She'd already been (temporarily) demoted to a field agent, of course she wasn't going to be trusted with solo missions.
Jinx was careful to keep the agitation out of her voice, "Okay, I'll talk to you later~", and instead took her anger out on the nurse, by snatching her pokeballs back as they were being handed back to her. She wasn't winning any points with Nurse Joy, as revealed in the barely contained agitation, but she doubted that she'd be returning to the city. Not that she cared to begin with. After saying their goodbyes the twins hung up, leaving Jinx to multi-task: placing her phone back into her bag with one hand, and releasing Tanzanite with the other. It took the Mega Salamence a moment to gather her bearings, but once she had, and her eyes had settled onto Jinx, she growled at her.
Clearly, she was still upset over how her battle had gone.
"I'll make it up to you," Jinx promised, and left it at that as she returned Sphene to his ball. She wasn't willing to make the time to release Opal and explain the situation to her, it'd be faster if she told her once they were on the island. Which she needed to leave for, now. "C'mon, show me how fast you are, Tanz," she urged as she climbed atop of the pokemon, prompting her to growl. No sooner had she gotten herself settled did Tanzanite take off, leaving Jinx with barely enough time to throw her arms around the Mega Salamence's neck before she fell off.
With her heart already racing she tightened her grip and cast one final glance towards the ground, and watched with glee as it grew smaller and smaller, until light wisp of clouds began to obscure her vision and she grew light-headed. At the very least, even if this mission wasn't exciting, the trip to there would be.
