The hallway was long and too quiet. Or, not quiet enough? Keionx wasn't certain if she wanted noise or silence. Perhaps, she thought, a little of both. Either way, the hallways were claustrophobic - Keionx put a hand to the wall to keep herself grounded, and listened to how her teammates dealt with things...

Killing off the dead was actually a hilarious concept for Eridia. Shaking off the dirt and grime off her suit, the highblood noted they had found a hallway. Where would it take them? Her gut told her they should take the risk and find out. Cracking her neck with a smile, she looked at the other girls. "Let's keep on moving, we shall not be defeated by something as lowly as a daywalker."

Well, that hallway had been a bust. Good short work-out, though. Eridia took charge, because, of course. A voice like that couldn't stay quiet for long. She knew the type. Luxara took point, checking out the hall ahead. After a few short steps, she stopped dead in her tracks.

She raised a hand to make everyone else stop too. Luxara cocked her head. "...You hear that? The shuffling?"

The greenblood looked back at the others. "I think we have us some company, girls."

Sixteen count. Cripes. A decent number! A good, live exercise. She'd been getting bored on the range anyway. Too bad LT isn't here. Too bad a number of people weren't there, really. But this mission wasn't fun fun buddy time. Luxara lined her shots and took out some heads.

Man, it would be great whenever she'd get some time to loot the databases of the fleet's flagship. Right under the empress's nose, too. Hopefully they'd snag some wonderful dirt.

"Stay sharp and don't let yourself get overwhelmed!" she called out in the meantime.

Ok, maybe there was a problem - she'd forgotten that these things were fast. They quickly swarmed around her, and Keionx was hard-pressed to keep a space clear in front of her. Her shield could only do so much, and there wasn't much room to swing her sword.

Nasty things - she'd have to fight with all she had, just to keep from being overwhelmed.

"Who was the brainiac who led us down this path?" Eridia said full of sarcasm again. This couldn't possibly be her fault right? Nah. "Watch out!" Eridia shouted as she noticed more daywalkers coming their way. The highblood flung one of the daggers at a daywalker, ran after it to retrieve her weapon, only to notice she actually didn't do any harm.

Well that suggestion didn't seem to hit home. No one else was taking out any daywalkers so far, not even their commander. Pretty unfortunate. Luxara, however, was a pro. She could show 'em. After another reload, she lined her shot. "Try to take out as many as you can in one go!" she suggested.

In demonstration, she shot through another cluster. "It saves ammo if you have any, and also energy. But you've gotta get in there first to even do that! Come on, let's do this thing!"

Maybe she should keep count of how many dead she'd destroyed so far...

"Good work, Spuode!" Finally, some help. Swords were pretty cool, but not her style. They definitely had their use. She could appreciate that. Man, it did start to feel like the volunteers were doing all the work. Typical. She couldn't wait to get off this ship and not have to deal with that anymore. Back to the swamp, please.

She moved onto the next hallway after making sure all the daywalkers were really, truly dead. "Seems quiet enough this way. How about we check it out? Sound good to you, boss?"

"Sounds like a perfect plan!" She said. An open door, the path lead them to an open door! "Stay behind. I've got this ladies." She winked and laughed, shaking off the fear of finding a daywalker on her own. Stepping inside, she found a daywalker free room-- excellent. She had some time to rummage in hopes to find something useful.

An object caught her eye as she swore she saw a glint. Rushing over, knowing the others would either leave her behind or find some zombies without her presence, Eridia tried taking the object. It seemed light, and useful! Taking the mysterious gas, tempted not to sniff it, Eridia ran back to the girls with said object right over her head.

"Thank you!" That was three down - but it didn't really work when she didn't know how many the greenblood felled... Not counting the big ones, which were a team effort and did not come out to a personal score, did that mean that Luxara had felled 13? To Keionx's 3...

Indeed, I doth need to catch up... she thought, feeling inspired.

After the room full of stuff, however, they came up to a door. Of course there would be something to fight - Keionx was ready to be ready.

Cool, they found something to take along with them. Maybe it could be useful later? They'd have to find out, if it got desperate enough. The way things were going, she was feeling pretty good about the results. They'd get through easy.

It didn't take Kei long to find a door. Nice!

"Okay, let's see what's going on here."

She looked for a panel, and quickly found one. "Ah-ha!" She opened it and disarmed it speedily. "Okay, we should be good to go. Don't be surprised if there's something to fight back there, guys."

The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

If this is your third mini-boss fight, you've reached one of the propulsion systems! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - It's a mess of disturbingly fleshy wires down here, but they all seem to be connected to a single, monolithic console. Everything is where it should be according to ground control's instructions, so recalibrating the power output is simple enough.
2 - It smells like ash and rot in here. Some of the wires are torn, sparking ominously in the vicinity of a particularly charred corpse. The unit is just draining power like this. With ground control's assistance, you manage to shut down the system and quarantine it.
3 - The room is pitch black. You're only able to discern its purpose through narrow flashlight beams and stumbling over the snaking wires. The console at the center is nothing but a dead-end for the ship's power supply. With instructions from headquarters, you manage to grope around in the dark and quarantine the system.
4 - The room feels like an inferno with how strained the propulsion system is. With instructions from headquarters you're able to alleviate pressure from the unit and reroute power accordingly. The center console already begins to glow less menacingly.
Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!
