This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.
The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

If this is your third mini-boss fight, you've reached one of the propulsion systems! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - It's a mess of disturbingly fleshy wires down here, but they all seem to be connected to a single, monolithic console. Everything is where it should be according to ground control's instructions, so recalibrating the power output is simple enough.
2 - It smells like ash and rot in here. Some of the wires are torn, sparking ominously in the vicinity of a particularly charred corpse. The unit is just draining power like this. With ground control's assistance, you manage to shut down the system and quarantine it.
3 - The room is pitch black. You're only able to discern its purpose through narrow flashlight beams and stumbling over the snaking wires. The console at the center is nothing but a dead-end for the ship's power supply. With instructions from headquarters, you manage to grope around in the dark and quarantine the system.
4 - The room feels like an inferno with how strained the propulsion system is. With instructions from headquarters you're able to alleviate pressure from the unit and reroute power accordingly. The center console already begins to glow less menacingly.
Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

"Well I do make it look good!" Scorpa smirked at Static. So distracted by chatting with the blueblood was she, that she didn't notice the room's occupant until he was knocking her against the wall. The yellowblood gasped as the wind was knocked out of her and then reached down to grab her sword to slash at it to scare it away. She fell forward into a battle stance, noting the way her stomach smarted from the creature's touch.

"Hang on!" The lieutenant yelled at her team as they filed in. The yellowblood wanted to confirm her suspicion before anyone else went charging in!

Once more Scorpa zipped in and attacked the zombie, letting her forearm brush against it. It stung and she jumped backwards immediately, wiping it against the wall.

"It's poisonous!" Scorpa called to warn the others so they could adjust their strategy. She didn't want to admit it but she worried how Static would fare again it. Dammit! He'd better be careful! Flydra and Engrav at least could hit from a distance!

Static caught Scorpa's eye after her last attack, and gave her a thumbs up. Sure, she was kinda awful to be around... but she was attacking, doing her best for the party. That was nothing he could complain about.

Static darted in for the attack, and felt himself seemingly bounce off the creature. "Glubbin-" He cursed to himself as he felt his weapon still ringing. "What is this guy even made of??" The blueblood whispered to himself.

Engrav attacks the boss!


Scorpa's warning came a moment too late for Engrav, already caught in a headlong rush towards the keening monster. The yellowblood's shout managed to catch him right as he was about to hit the thing, and instead of the kick he'd been intending to deliver, he rocked forward and threw and uppercut right into the monster's ghastly jaw. There was a CRUNCH of bone beneath his prosthetic, and Engrav could tell something was beginning to ooze down the metal plating.

He barely had time to wonder what it was before he started to feel nauseous. Engrav whipped his prosthetic to the side in an effort to try and shuck the venom from the surface.

"If it's poison, we've nothing to fear!" Flydra almost looked excited at the fact that it had toxins to study. She was confident that she could whip together an antidote for anything it could throw at them. She doubted it had chemical compounds she hadn't heard of before. Unleashing a round of needles at it, they cut through parts of the zombie and she kept moving to stay behind Scorpa's movements. The yellowblood was her shield. The tealblood was Scorpa's healer. The system worked well.

Static appeared to be paying more attention to her moirail than the boss and Flydra decided to keep an eye on this. Was this out of affection or potential sabotage? If this troll thought he could get close to her moirail, she needed to make sure he was high quality goods. Nothing but the best for her Scorpa Devile. And if he wasn't good enough, did he have the potential to be built up? Everyone could be enhanced or improved if they had the interest in pursuing it.

"Scorpa, operation gift wrapping-" Flydra and Scorpa had worked out joint battle procedures before, along with developing shared attacks with the rest of their sirens as well. They were aiming to be a top notch elite military team after all! Flydra took her position behind Scorpa and murmured for the yellowblood to do her attack. The other girl wrapped her whip blade around the daywalker to constrict it's movements while Flydra jumped off of Scorpa's back and shoulders to get herself high enough into the air to rain needles down on the beast from above. She wanted them all to hit at the brain of the creature in order to puncture it and release her chemicals inside the skull. Rolling into her landing, the tealblood got back to her feet in time to watch the others continue the fight.

"Happy Perigree!" Scorpa laughed, hearing Flydra's order. She fell into formation and executed the plan with a grin. It was easy, effortless! The two of them knew how to read the flow of battle together. They hadn't practiced for nothing! Once the plan had been completed, Scorpa swung her whip blade once more, trying to snag at the creature's feet. She was surprised when it jumped, dodging. Interesting...

This guy was ripping them to shreds! Static felt the sting of the thing's counter attack. The zombie was obviously some sort of high ranking military troll in its past life, what with the armor, the weapons, and the just frustration that came from it. Static knew, sometimes high ranking military officials were... well... something. He looked at Scorpa.

Static felt it again, his favorite feeling; electric. He felt confident when it was with him, when he had that buzz in his head, in his bones, that gave him that rush. He felt invincible. "All right Scorpa," He said smiling at her. "Watch close!" And the blueblood attacked the undead monstrosity.

Scorpa heals by training her leadership! 1d4 + 1

"Yeah yea-" Scorpa rolled her eyes at Static's boasting and was about to taunt him when suddenly the blueblood started to rocket around the boss. Attacking with incredible speed and precision, the yellowblood was stunned to see what he was capable of. It was actually really impressive even if she didn't want to admit it! She pouted as he killed the monster, happy it was over but mad she hadn't gotten a chance to follow his attack and up-show him. She was in a leadership position now though, and had to act supportive even if she wanted to rough him up in revenge.

"Nice work out there!" The yellowblood flashed the team a smile. As they resettled after the battle, cleaning themselves off and preparing to head onwards, she pulled out a pack of Splurtz soda that she'd smuggled into her kit to bring aboard.

"Here, everyone gets a 2 minute break! Enjoy!" They couldn't dawdle for long but Flydra had taught her it was important to stay hydrated, keep your energy levels up, and avoid tunnel vision in these situations. Anything Flydra told her to do, she did!

Engrav takes a second to rest.


Engrav slumped against a nearby wall, exhausted. Well, he was pretending just a little, but he was also a little nauseous still from the venom. He surreptitiously scraped a bit of the biological agent from his prosthetic and slipped it into a vial as the rest of his group rested.

"Well done, Static." Static's powers exceeded her expectations. Flydra was very impressed and gave him an approving smile. She didn't have the same emotional hangups about the blueblood that Scorpa did. Her moirail pulled a pack of drinks out of nowhere and the doctor accepted one. After all, hydration was important.

"Always so thoughtful, Scorpa. Thank you." She took several sips to finish it before tossing the can onto the floor with the rest of the garbage. She didn't particularly care about littering in a tomb.

Static caught his breath and smiled up at Scorpa, thankful for the drink. "Uhh..." He started, not really sure how to go about saying this. Or if he even should. The caffeine was already getting to him, not to mention this entire ship thing, so words just kinda skipped out. "Did you smuggle these in through your boobs? Cuz they look a little smaller..." He immediately clasped a hand over his face and stood up, walking over to Engrav. "Hey you okay? You look like you.. um, took a, bad hit, yeah a bad hit." Static said, doing anything he could to avoid looking at Scorpa.

Maybe it was because he was sure Scorpa would hit him for saying something like that, or maybe it was because he was actually really exhausted and in pain, but whatever the reason, Static took his time distracting himself by bandaging up some cuts and the like.
