Leeroi's mind cleared so instantly that he found himself reeling, then falling to his knees. The itch, the feeling of decay was gone in his arm. A soft laugh trickled out of him, interrupted by the quick need to spit out some blood. When did that get there? He wondered, eyes buzzing back and forth, desperately trying to focus.

Hemera's voice made him stir. He had a hard time stringing her words together. They were complicated enough when his brain worked at full capacity. Now, Leeroi could only focus on the sheer sound. Still, it roused a powerful feeling in him. They could pick themselves up, and keep moving.

Leeroi caught eye contact with Hemera at least once. His gaze didn't waver nearly as much as hers did. That made him sneer, but in a pained way. He didn't have any kind of response for her. The whole team was pretty shaken. He wasn't going to start complaining when Psykgi also needed protecting.

He turned to the redblood and reached out to hold her, if just for a second. Just something for the both of them to ground themselves on. Things would be okay.

Been better. Was what she wanted to say, as the buzzing stopped and her head cleared, bit by bit. She would have been more inspired if her thinkpan wasn't still reeling and fighting off the effects of the attack.

To be honest, everyone looked a little like s**t, blood color now prominently displayed on their faces, from their noses or in tiny droplets from their eyes. Except for the Lieutenant... Hmmm...

She gave Hemera a shaky smile - she could see what was going on there, she knew that she needed to help with the relationship that was happening here, but right now that wasn't her focus.

She'd seen Leeroi bleed before. He got into fights - that was inevitable. This was different though. This was bad - and she wasn't sure if this was something she could back him up with. She wasn't sure if this was something he could protect her from. They were both hurt - She almost wanted to ask him what he wanted to do. She knew he wouldn't like it, but...

And then he reached out to her and held her and she knew things were ok. She held him back, giving him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine." she said softly. It wasn't precisely true, but it was true enough. If he was ok, she'd be ok.

Hemera's speech put a smile on Eostre's face, filling her with that sense of invigoration. Of course. They would be strong as a team, and do well together. They knew what sort of horror they were up against and would react appropriately for next time. You learn. You do better. You don't make the same mistakes. She nodded as Hemera finally directed the speech to her. She didn't think for a second this tealblood would let her down.

Eostre put her hand on Hemera's shoulder, despite the height differences, and looked at her face, scrutinizing it and looking at the faint traces of teal on her chin and mouth. "You were bleeding quite a bit there, Moachm. I wonder if you and Psygki had such a hard time because, well. Powers. And then redbloods tend to have a weaker disposition against psychic attacks," she said quietly.

If she would struggle with that sort of thing, finding a way to shield her in the future would be important. Eostre herself had dealt with psychic assaults before, and thought it was a struggle she didn't have the same acuity of injury as Hemera displayed. With a soft pat, she pulled away from the sergeant. "Doing alright now, though? she asked.

Right. They were sticking with this. Psykgi gave Leeroi a ressuring squeeze and then let go. This meant that she needed to change track a little bit -- from purely supportive redblood to if-we're-doing-this-I-need-to-ask-some-s**t.

She fished in her medkit for some headache pills and offered them to everybody. "If we come up against more of them, we might want to take these as prophylactics, you know?" she said. She'd caught that bit about redbloods being weaker to psiionics. If that was true - and science did imply it - then that could be a problem. A big problem. One that she would need to deal with MAJORLY.

So, questions. "Has anyone here experienced a psychic assault, besides the one from just now? If so, lets share tips and think of a strategy for getting through the next one."

Ah. Distractions. Hello, Lieutenant, and thank god. Time to never look at Leeroi again, because the atmosphere just felt so suffocating. He wasn't here, just some other blueblood. Good plan.

"Mm." Mera looked down at the mess on her clothes. Just a uniform, should wash out easy enough. But she was struck by Eostre's assessment. "It might be. The last thing I want is to be a burden." But the pain did intensify when her body naturally responded with ice. An unexpected weakness. Poorly timed, at that.

"I'll...make do." Reassess, figure out an alternate plan. If there were more psionics, anyway, and if they could keep doing whatever happened back there. "Compared to an undead corpse that has mutated so badly that it doesn't even look like anything anymore, I'm doing fabulous," she sighed. "That counts for something, I'd hope."

Psykgi started handing out pills in the meantime. Good call. Hemera took one and dry swallowed it. It would have to do.

In the meantime, the redblood brought forth unexpected forte. And Leeroi liked her? If Mera did that sort of thing, he'd- no. Not worth her time.

"I...haven't. So far I'm at a loss for a concrete strategy. Maybe this question would be better posed when we aren't still decompressing?" she asked, pleasant enough. Wait for the pills to kick in first, please.

"Knowing your strengths and weaknesses isn't a burden, Hemera. We just need to be careful. I know you won't let me down," Eostre said gently, but she couldn't help but offer a smile. Better than a corpse any day. Always better to be alive. When Psygki spoke though, Eostre raised a brow, accepting the medicine easily enough. They made things that worked against psionics, psychics and powered trolls, she knew. Medicine could help keep her thinkpan from feeling like it was exploding from the pressure, at least.

"I've come up against it before, Corporal," she said carefully. She wasn't sure how much she should say about her time with the Queen, even in front of these military recruits. The things she saw that time, and felt inside her head... "It can be horrific if they actually get inside your thinkpan. Since it was undead, I don't think it was particularly focused on anything. Maybe seeking a connection of some sort?" She put her hand on her chin, thoughtful.

"Anyway. My suggestion is to grit your teeth and try not to scream if it happens. It eventually will end." Eostre wasn't sure what else to say. It only happened the one time, though she can't imagine it happening more in such a short period of time. They'd simply have to tough it out and hope for the best.

Thanks to Psykgi's medicine and a good chunk of time to calm down, Leeroi was feeling a lot better. Not perfect, especially not emotionally, but better. He thanked the redblood with a soft laugh. "Always prepared, huh?" he said, smiling at her.

Eostre's assessment was impressive. He didn't mind talking a bit of strategy, if it helped the team move forward. "My pain was centralized to my arm. It felt like... phantom pains, but worse. And I don't usually get those when wearing it..." Leeroi paused, glancing at the team. Eyes flitted over to Hemera, but eventually fell back to his moirail. "Push comes to shove, I can detach it. It's not ideal for shooting, though."

Leeroi took a deep breath. He desperately wanted to take part in helping lead the team through the ship, in his own way. Standing on the sidelines and letting the others talk felt... uncomfortable and foreign. So, Leeroi stood tall and addressed the crew.

"We have an impressive team on our hands," Leeroi said. "Now, I'm not going to allow myself to be shaken by the things we're going to see, because we've got to keep charging forward, alright?" His gaze lingered on Hemera for a short moment. "We can worry when we make it out of here, victorious."

Hemera, at this point, locked down on her I'm-not-dealing-with-this plan, just looked back after a moment like a fellow professional. Her awkwardness and anxiety were stowed with an utter nothingness replacing it. As it should be anyway. "Well put," she said, cordial, but lacking honest emotion. "And with all this charging to be done, we need someone to lead it."

She looked to their lieutenant. The only adult, the expert, the one to say when it was time to keep moving, how much, and where to go. "Ma'am?"

Okay, as good as it was to take a moment to breathe and regroup - this was getting out of hand. They needed to move on. When Hemera turned to her, she uncrossed her arms. "Of course. We need to head out, if everyone's good now, got their say in," she said, returning to her commanding voice. She was certainly the one in charge of this mission, no matter how skilled the teens were in speeches and talking. "We should start moving immediately. I don't want to wait around for the next thing to find us."

Not to mention as they stood here she was being subject to more teenage drama between her squad. She didn't miss that look Leeroi gave her sergeant, and her tepid response back. Well. At least they still worked together, and weren't at each other's throat. "Everyone ready?"

"Always." she said. She even had fire-retardants in here because she had learned through hard experience that anything to do with the queen (even a long dead one, she bet) involved ******** fire.

"Thats right!" Psykgi said, nodding... and relieved. Yeah, he was... or would be... fine. Good. That meant she could set up a few priorities:

1: Make sure she came out of this alive and with her mind intact.
2: Make sure the same thing happened for Leeroi.
3: Figure out how she was going to help with the blackrom drama going on here.

That was last because it was very clear that this ship was not a good place for that. For observation, maybe, for damage control, definitely. But the other stuff... hmm.

With that settled, Eostre motioned for them to follow her down the halls. After a few moments of searching, Eostre could only find open, empty hallways. No doorways which likely would lead to what they were searching for. The quiet was... suspicious. "Everyone keep alert," she said, turning back to her crew.

Leeroi couldn't stand it. Nothing was working. If Hemera would just... Ugh, it wasn't worth his time. Not right now. He kept up his focus, thanks to Eostre's command. Down the hall, he spotted something shambling toward them.

"Daywalkers," Leeroi said, loud enough to alert the crew, but not to catch the attention of the enemy.

The buzzing from Mera's accessory confirmed Leeroi's words. The shuffling down the hall edged closer and closer. "Hold on, let me..." Hemera flipped open the ring, catching the heat sensory. She frowned at it. "It's going to be a decent amount. Ma'am." She showed Eostre the reading quick. Then, she shut the ring and got her boomerang out. "Expect a bit of a work-out, everyone. Stay focused, and we'll be done with this quickly."

Despite herself, she chanced one more glance at Leeroi. Impulsive thoughts to say something, anything, that would inevitably make things worse because that was all she was any good at. "One step closer to that victory you mentioned, isn't it, corporal?"

Already assuming it was another mistake on her part, she fell into combat stance, attention turned back on the incoming horde and their commander. Of course Eostre would signal when to engage, wouldn't she?

Daywalkers in sight, Eostre nodded to her sergeant. Her little gadget was certainly useful for this sort of thing. Never got surprised! "Alright everyone, let's go get them," she said, waving them forward.

Eostre stepped into the fray, ready to take some out. But as she got closer, she got grabbed by one just outside her range of vision and stumbled. Her balance lost, Eostre struggled to keep from getting overtaken by the grotesque corpse as it dug its hands into her arms.

A poor start to this battle, and embarrassing to boot, in front of her crew.
