With the promise of a contest explanation to keep him at bay, Naomi awaited Austin's return patiently. Of course, he didn't forget the real reason why he'd come with the blonde (he'd just almost forgotten), and with a soft hum the dark-haired teen removed his sewing kit in preparation. At the sound of footsteps approaching Naomi looked up, his expression registering surprise before he composed himself; pajamas and a robe, it was... was Austin cold? Or perhaps he just enjoyed wearing two layers? As curious a sight as it was it didn't warrant an inquiry, unlike the bandages wrapped around both knuckles. "Did you hurt yourself?" he asked, concerned, and indicated towards Austin's hands.
With delicate hands, Naomi picked up Austin's suit and inspected it. From what he could tell, the damage wasn't too extensive, a few, small, tears, a bit of dirt and -- oh. The dark haired teen emitted a soft chuff, spotting a bit of blood on the coat, which wasn't too bad, that just meant he'd have to go about the stain differently. "This is an easy fix," Naomi declared with a smile, pleased to know that he'd be able to mend Austin's suit without too much trouble. As eager as he was to start, he was even more eager to learn about contests. Naomi placed the suit back down, for now, and folded his hands together in his lap, the epitome of attentiveness.
If he'd been wise enough to pull out a pen and paper beforehand, Naomi would've been taking notes. Contests sounded... absolutely amazing! Exciting, and a stark contrast to battling that put a true spotlight on a pokemon's look and skill, rather than prowess. Eyes wide, Naomi watched as Austin released a curious pokemon, nicknamed Riptide, and then proceeded to erupt into a smattering of applause as he launched himself onto the kitchen counter in an expertly executed spray of water. Naomi turned back to Austin, already imprinting his summarization into his mind, with the widest of grins. "Those sound absolutely amazing!" he breathed. Why hadn't this been introduced to Ransei, and every other region for that matter! "Austin..." he spoke slowly, idea already formulating in his mind. "Would you teach me more about contests? I wish to participate in a few with my pokemon, and you seem -- you are an expert in them."

When Austin was asked about his bandages, he quickly blamed Team Skull. "Oh, those hooligans from before gave me a few cuts and bruises," he lied. "But, time heal all wounds, as they say." He watched Naomi as the kind young man worked on his suit, Riptide now plopped down on his lap. The stout shark glared angrily as it usually did, but Austin's petting subsided the Aklor's anger.
After explaining contests, he was surprised to see how excited Naomi looked. Austin always felt something when he was working on coordinating; when he was in correctional school, old magazines about the topic kept him from just become a straight-up criminal. It was odd to have someone so interested in something that he cared so much about. And when Naomi call it 'absolutely amazing,' Austin couldn't help but blush. "I suppose it is rather amazing, isn't it?" he said, looking bashful.
But, Naomi's request almost floored Austin. "You...you'd like me to teach you?" He had subconsciously been petting Riptide more and more, until finally the finicky shark wriggled free, grunting angrily. Austin tried his best to regain his composure. "Well, I suppose...well...I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm an expert, but..." He was conflicted; he had spent a long time ostracizing himself from others, and now, he had someone that actually seemed to be a nice person that wanted to spend time with him.
"Ahem!" Austin cleared his throat, and placed a friendly hand on Naomi's shoulder. "Shimizu Naomi, I would be honored to teach you everything I know." He smiled at the young man, still blushing slightly.
Naomi nodded, immediately accepting Austin's explanation -- after all, his tale was plausible and left no room to question. "I am glad to know that you only sustained minor injuries," he remarked. His gaze fell onto Riptide, brimming with curiosity, before he looked over to Rotom. He was tempted to ask him what the pokemon was, after all knowing each and every pokemon in existence was the pokedex's primary function, but he stopped when he remembered the ghost's words. Right, he wasn't allowed to ask him anymore questions for the night. "Austin, what kind of pokemon is Riptide?" he asked, turning back to him.
He nodded eagerly, the corner of his mouth twitching as he tried to suppress one of his more amused smiles. Austin was easily flustered, wasn't he? As the rhetorical question floated about in his mind, Naomi had to hold back from making a comment based on that fact; it was far too early in their relationship to be making those sort of remarks. "Yes, I would," he stated determinedly. "I apologize for my sudden request, and you do not have to accept. After all, we have just met..." Naomi found himself trailing off when Austin placed a hand on his shoulder, which prompted him to look up at the blonde--goodness, he was such a tall fellow!--and he smiled, admittedly surprised, when he accepted. "Oh! Thank you, Austin!" All smiles, the teen's mind began to whirl with the sudden possibilities now available to him, and with his mind moving, so did his mouth.
"We should meet soon! Tomorrow even, or whenever is good for you. Are you available in the morning? I do not have many plans, besides exploring the island more and preparing myself for these island challenges, so I am available at anytime. Is there anything I need to bring for myself or my pokemon? I have enough funds to buy a few things, but if there is anything expensive I need I will have to wait a few days. Ah! I am excited!" Naomi rambled on, and was readying up to continue when his wandering gaze landed back onto Austin's suit. "Oh!" He reached back over to return the outfit to his grasp. "Forgive me, I have gotten ahead of myself -- I have not even mended your suit yet," he laughed nervously at himself, embarrassed by his behavior; he couldn't go losing his formality just yet. Naomi cleared his throat and stood to his feet. "If you will just give me a few minutes, I should have this fixed."

Hau'oli was a pretty nice place. When she thought of island cities, she thought of Namai; which only made the impact of being in Hau'oli for the first time all the more impressive. There were no walls blocking people from leaving and the streets were crawling with law enforcement. And, the atmosphere was so lively! It wasn't bland and oppressive like Namai at all."I love it!"Her exclamation caught others' attention. Some were confused, which didn't bother her at all, while others seemed to find the child tourist's confession amusing. And, it probably was."Let's look around, Riolu! I wanna see what sort of things there are here!""Lu...."Riolu wasn't disappointed that she suggested staying for a bit. If anything, he was...entertained by his trainer's enthusiasm. It was just a city. Why was that so impressive to her? She'd seen cities before, right?
As the duo walked through Hau'oli's streets, Erryn did a lot of window shopping. She reminded herself that she had to start getting some cash if she ever wanted to buy anything; especially food. That was the most important thing she could buy."Oh, look! This store has keychains!"Said store had a variety of keychains on display in the window, ranging from food-themed to Pokemon-themed. The one that caught her attention the most was the Celebi one. She didn't realize it, but she pouted a bit. Erryn hoped Celebi was okay and having fun."Ri?""...I'm okay. I just miss a friend, that's all. But, I'm sure I'll see them again!"Riolu looked curious, but he didn't do anything to suggest he wanted to know more. And, Erryn was glad for that. She wasn't sure she was ready to tell her Pokemon that she wasn't exactly from their timeline.
Looking back at the keychains, she browsed through them again. There were a couple of Vivillon she thought were cute. Then her eyes landed on one of a really pretty blue bird with a snowflake charm. That one was really cute....It was also a bit more pricey than the other ones. As she stared at the blue bird Pokemon, her eyes caught something just out of their focus in the reflection and moved to look at it. Her mind went blank for a couple seconds before she realized the reflection was the same Pokemon as the keychain. Except, it was hold holding a bag or something in its beak and almost looked as if it was staring at her. Excitement built up and Erryn turned to hopefully get it scanned in her dex to see what it was, but there was a sudden and powerful burst of chilling wind that caused a tiny bit of a panic on the street. When she looked back at the building it'd been perched on, it was gone."That was weird...."Erryn didn't even notice Riolu grab Charmander's ball and let her out until the flame on her tail warmed her up."Aw. Thanks, you two!""Char~!"

After looking at the keychains some more and taking note of which ones she definitely wanted when she had the chance, Erryn moved on with her makeshift tour of Hau'oli. Charmander and Riolu followed, the orange lizard looking around with just as much curiosity and enthusiasm as her trainer."...What do you two want to be called?"The two looked at her, clearly taken aback by the question."I just thought you guys would like names of your own, but I don't know what to call you....Do Pokemon have their own names?""Char...."Charmander didn't seem to know what she wanted to be called, but Erryn noticed that Riolu was watching her as if debating on something. This went on for about three minutes before Riolu let out a small sigh."Bryant.""Bry....Y-You just talked!""Lu."Erryn frowned at the mocking tone in the Riolu's reply. He was clearly not going to flaunt his little talent. But, that wasn't going to settle with Erryn. She would get him to talk again. She had no idea Riolu could talk! That was so cool!

After Bryant put the map back in her bag, the trio made their way out of the city to continue their trip to Verdant Cavern.

Austin found Naomi's enthusiasm to be very amusing, and couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "Now, now, please, settle down," he said jovially. "I know that it's pretty exciting, but coordinating takes a lot of hard work. But fret not, I'll teach you everything I know, in due time." Austin was getting excited as well, and the desire to just go on and do another contest poked into his mind. But, it would probably be better to just lay low until he traveled to the next island before he got into another underground contest.
Before the coordinator could remind Naomi about the suit, the young man was already getting to work on it. As the Naomi worked, Austin decided to answer Naomi's question about Riptide. "So, Riptide is what's called an Aklor," he explained. "I've not seen but this one in person, which lives up to their reputation for not being all that common. Ashley adjusted his glasses again, having passed his sniper case to Alphonse to carry; the pokemon didn’t seem to be bothered by the action, but rather lost in his own thoughts as they proceeded along. Maybe he was still pondering on their interactions from before? Ashley certainly wasn’t; there was no point wasting any more energy than he already had.
"Have there been any notifications for me recently?" The French man inquired, adjusting his glasses as they entered into the city and proceeded down the walkways. He chanced a glance at the police station and considered putting in a report before focusing his attention back to his wrist. The screen fizzled and moved before going blank.
"Yes sir, actually. There was a communication sent in from Mister Lyndon. He’d appreciate it if you would contact him at your earliest convenience," Ashley furrowed his brow at this information. It was odd that he’d missed the message, though if it had come to his personal communicator then it wasn’t a surprise. The screen shimmered, "Yes sir," and with that the screen blipped off.

Ashley dropped his arm to his waist again and continued along heading for the boats. He needed to book passage back to Kalos as soon as possible. Once there he could contact headquarters and get an inquiry on what exactly they wanted as well as check into his tracking. He hadn’t forgotten that but he didn’t feel Octave needed to be worked more than necessary. If he knew the Porygon2, and he did, then he’d been working diligently on the task while Ashley had been… ‘preoccupied’.
Adjusting the strap of said computer bag, he picked up the pace. It was still light out which meant booking passage on a boat wouldn’t be much of an issue; they ought to still be running between regions. Now it was just a matter of getting to one heading the way he intended before it left. He didn’t want to wait out a boat if he could avoid it.

Unfortunately, there was no avoiding it. He and Alphonse arrived about ten minutes after the boat had departed for Kalos and it’d be another twenty before the next headed out. Ashley gave a curt nod to the captain as he was informed of this, purchasing his ticket to secure passage and taking a seat at the nearest bench to wait it out. Alphonse set the case down next to him and gestured to the man to catch his attention before pointing to his trainer’s belt.
"Do you wish to go back to your pokeball, Alphonse?" Ashley inquired, quirking an eyebrow as the mega nodded his head. That was rather surprising but he gave an affirmative nod, retrieving the pokemon’s ball and returning him for the time being. Usually Alphonse was one to stay out and wander with his own intentions; maybe the interaction with Adder had worn on the Audino? He hadn’t responded much after all the intensity which seemed odd on its own… ah well.
With Alphonse gone, Ashley mulled over how to kill the time. He could read; that was an excellent way to go, though he would’ve hated to get to the good parts of his novels only to have to stow them away once he boarded. He wasn’t ashamed, far from it, but mothers with young children weren’t ones to hide their leering judgmental eyes when they spotted the covers. They probably knew all too well the garbage he was reading as much as they pretended to disapprove with prudish attitudes. It was humorous but not something he wanted to deal with.
Instead, he mulled a moment before reaching for his belt again and retrieving the Gekkit’s pokeball. He unleashed the pokemon into his lap, watching as he gave a loud yawn and shook off whatever lingering drowsiness that being confined to his pokeball had caused. The pokemon perked up though and turned to curiously look up at the man.
"Hello mon cheri. How are you?" Ashley inquired gently, reaching a hand up and rubbing the pokemon between the ears. He supposed it would be important to get to know the creature; maybe the boat ride would be a good chance. The Gekkit tilted his head thoughtfully before chittering a little at the French man. It seemed… curious, for lack of a better term, about where they were and took a moment to look out at the expansion of water they’d soon be travelling across.
Ashley left the pokemon alone to look, hand still on its head as he checked his watch. They still had a few minutes and so he spent the time learning about the pokemon on his lap. Tugging out the pokedex he began to peruse what information was available, engrossing himself until the dock horn sounded to indicate their ride had arrive and it was time to get boarding. He glanced up to confirm and tucked the pokedex away, allowing the Gekkit to hop off his lap and walk beside him down the docks. Though already in the process of it, Naomi took Austin's advice and calmed himself down, to the best of his ability; which meant retaining a fraction of his excitement, and allowing the remainder to escape him in the form of an exhale. He couldn't go about bombarding his host with a serious of never-ending questions, and revealing to him that he wasn't as mature or as put together as he appeared, that was improper! "I shall do my best to become a student worthy of your tutelage," he vowed, the fires of determination burning bright in his eyes.
With Austin's damaged suit the only thing standing in the way of their contest trainer, that and about the twelve hours before the sunrise, Naomi set out to mending. The stains would need to be dealt with first, time was of the essence in these sort of damage situations, and so he set to fixing that first, and somehow found his way back to the couch in the process. As Naomi worked he also listened, and while his head was bowed and his gaze never strayed from his work he took in every word Austin said, a fascination of the Aklor species growing with every tidbit of information shared.
It took his lap being claimed by Riptide himself for Naomi's attention to be broken, and he looked down at the shark with a start. "I am glad he chose not to bite me," he mused, taking Austin's confession surprisingly well. He smiled down at Riptide before patting him on his head. "I like him as well!" Ieyasu, who had stood up in alarm, leered warily at Riptide, far less trusting of the pokemon than his partner. When it became clear that he was only there to use Naomi as a pillow, however, he slowly sat back down. He'd still keep his eye on him, and intervene if he did decide to bite his human.
With a heavy pokemon, quite literally, anchoring him to the couch, Naomi went back to Austin's suit, and fell into a concentrated silence. Minutes passed, and after holding the tux to the light, twice, to make absolute sure he had successfully removed both blood and dirt, Naomi turned to mending the small tears with a steady hand. Though he stopped several times to check his progress and compare his threading to outfit in its entirety, it wasn't until Naomi broke into a smile that he was finished. "Here you are, Austin!" Careful to keep his modest about him, the teen presented the suit carefully, without flourish, and handed it over to him. "If you would like, you can try it on and see how it looks on you," he suggested.

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Riptide
Riptide wriggled happily from Naomi's petting, though his constant angry visage made it hard to tell. He caught the eye of the Eevee, looking territorial about the shark's encroachment on Naomi's lap, but Riptide just leered right back. If he fit, he was gonna sit. Austin found the whole thing amusing, and finding that there was no imminent danger, he relaxed on the couch, admiring Naomi's work.
Austin remained relatively silent as Naomi worked, not wanting to disturb the teen from his craft. He wanted to give Naomi tons of compliments, though; it was definitely some fine craftsmanship going into the repairs. It's about time you met someone useful in Alola, he thought to himself. Though he is a little gullible to believe all of this. Or he's too nice to question it. Probably both... The coordinator's mind started to wander, and he didn't snap out of it until Naomi announced he was finished. Riptide withdrew from Naomi's lap, and went to wander the house.
"Well, well!" Austin held up the jacket to admire the handiwork. "I can't even tell where the rips were to begin with!" Austin slipped out of his robe, and tried on the jacket. Even when worn with pajamas, the jacket looked fantastic, and it surprisingly fit a lot better, too. When he had gotten it, he didn't have time to make sure it was the proper size (as one is hard to do so when stealing), but this was perfection. "This is wonderful," he commented, "And I'm sure the slacks and the vest fit just as heavenly as the jacket."
Austin smiled at Naomi with genuine gratitude. "I can't thank you enough, Naomi," he said. "I never have run-ins with anyone that would be so helpful to a guy like me, but then you come along, willing to aid a total stranger..." Before he could even think about what he was doing, he placed a hand gently on Naomi's cheek, and eased closer. "I'm so grateful, I could kiss you, Naomi."
His smile, which had grown from a sense of pride, quickly grew into a grin after Austin confirmed that everything was in order. Naomi stood back to his feet and give the jacket an appraising look himself, wanting to make sure that his work was, indeed, exemplary. "I am glad to see that it fits well," he finally spoke, cheeks beginning to hurt from the length of time he'd spent smiling; it wasn't as if this was anything new, however. Naomi gave a soft laugh, "you look much better in your suit when it is not covered in dirt, Austin."
"You are very welcome, I am just happy that I was able to be of assistance." Not to mention, this was good practice for him! While he was away from home, and his mother's shop, he didn't need to allow his skills to become rusty; this had truly been a win-win situation. Though he listened politely to Austin--it was a shame that he'd had so few encounters with other, charitable individuals--Naomi was aware of the time. It was late, and he didn't want to keep his host from acquiring a good night's rest because of him. Not to mention, the sooner they both fell asleep, the sooner they could get to their contest training. Oh, but... he hadn't eaten since lunch, so he'd need to grab dinner for himself and his pokemon before he went off to find lodging for the night. There were still a few restaurants open, he'd seen the lights still on and customers being served in a few...
Naomi's mind was still running with an, ever-growing, itinerary when he felt a hand caress his cheek. His train of thought came to a screeching halt, at the same time he snapped his full attention onto Austin, giving him a bit of mental whiplash. The pony-tailed male's eyes widened in shock long before he could properly register Austin's words, and in his dilated gaze he watched as the blonde moved closer. W-what? K-k-kiss!? But they had just met! It was far too soon for anything even nearing that level of intimacy. Was this customary in Alola!? This had never come up in his research on the region's inhabitants! But Austin had said he was from Johto, so was this something they did there? Or was this just how he showed his thanks? Ah.. he wasn't ready for that! Not to say that Austin wasn't an attractive man, he just... the number of times he'd kissed anyone, male or female, was on the low side...
Through his mental freak out, Naomi began reacting unconsciously. He lifted both hands to his cheeks, a glimpse of skin tinted bright pink able to be seen before they were fully covered. He took two steps back, returning proper space between himself and Austin, and then he began to laugh. Nervously and highly embarrassed, the sound was muffled by his hands while his gaze fell down to the ground. "Ah... you do not..." Naomi struggled to find the words, or any coherent sentence within the mess that was currently his mind. "A handshake would more than suffice!" he uttered, unintentionally raising his voice. He told himself to breathe. "A kiss... it is far too formal," he explained, slowly, and dropped his hands back down to his side. "And we have just met, Austin." Was it just him, or had it suddenly become uncomfortably warm?
