By the time he was allowed to leave, Mitsu was furious. He wasn't sure if he was mad at the police for immediately pinning him as a thug just because he was seen walking into the city with Alejandro or if he was mad at Alejandro for causing the situation. While the rest of the team ran wild, Dallas and Beltigre went into the old couple's bedroom, where the thug had claimed as his crash pad for the foreseeable future. "So, you're probably wondering why I pulled you aside from the rest, Beltigre," he said. "See, we're about to get into a fight." The litten's ears perked up at the word 'fight,' and she did her best to arch her back, ready to rumble.
Dallas smirked, and easily flipped her over with a halfhearted shove. "Easy, furball, not that kind of fight!" The cat Poke'mon wriggled her way back to her feet, and let out a little growl. Her trainer have her a tickle behind the ear, and purrs replaced the adorable attempts to intimidate. "Now, there's still gonna be a fight, in like, four hours or so," Dallas continued, "But this is totally different from some random wild encounter or one of them Team Skull dorks. Nah, this is some serious s**t."
Beltigre looked up at Dallas, not understanding the words, but definitely the cadence and the tone. She bobbed her head in affirmation, and arched her back again. "So, you think you can handle this? Because it's gonna be a brutal throw-down. I'm talking a 4-way battle of savagery here!" The litten didn't waver. She stood her ground with a fierce look in her eyes.
Dallas' eyes met hers, and they had an understanding. "That's what I wanna see, Beltigre," he said proudly. Just then, the oven dinged! and a sweet aroma filled the air. "So, first thing's first: You're gonna eat yourself something real nice. Then...training."

After spending most of the afternoon and night training up, Dallas recalled the team and headed out under the cover of darkness, careful not to be seen. He had his duffle bag with him, and held it close to keep it from jangling as the thug stuck to the side roads to get to the docks. His stomach twisted into a knot of nervousness as he continued on; for the first time in awhile, Dallas was actually sort of nervous. Aw man, I dunno if I got this or not, he thought. This is heavy stuff here. If I screw this up...well, then the dream was for nothing!
Dallas pressed on until he reached the docks. There was no one around, making the salty-aired piers feel creepy. But, off in the distance, the faint thump of heavy bass music could be heard, and a faint light barely peeked over the roofs of the other warehouse buildings. "That's gotta be it," he thought. As he approached, he adjusted his jacket to help conceal his face, and placed his hat low to aid in the covering, and by the time he reached the lone bouncer blocking the way, he would be rather unrecognizable.
"Alola, bud," said the bouncer. "If you wanna party, it'll be 500." Dallas scoffed, and stood up straighter. "Yeah, well how much to compete?" The bouncer looked surprised, but quickly recovered. "Ya couldn't afford it, bud, so you might as well step on-" The bouncer was interrupted by a wayward wad of cash, all rolled up with a rubber band to hold it tight. "...then again, looks like you're good. Head on in, and take the last room on the right, behind the stage." Dallas pushed on by, and headed into the warehouse.

Tay burst from her hiding spot, quickly coming to a halt behind the thugs, a finger pointing up towards the two who were still trying to get the large Pokemon into it's crate. "Stop right there!" Tay called out, trying to think of the best thing to say to make herself seem intimidating. "Let those Pokemon go or I'll make you hurt!" She added. Cotee and Freya stepped forward, both with their cheeks sparking. Both the men turned back, an unimpressed look on their faces. "Yo, who ordered the small fry?" One muttered, waving his hands around, like some weird dance. The other held his hands up in a shrug. "Wasn't me, but it's going to blow our cover." The blue-haired thugs stepped forward, a Pokeball in either of their hands. "Listen, tyke. Go back home to yer mommy, and forget you ever saw us, dish?" The first stated. "I wont! You're hurting those Pokemon, and I'm not letting you get away with it." Tay replied. "Freya, use Electric Terrain, Cotee use Grass knot and tie them up!" The two electric-types were quick to obey those orders. Freya leaped forward, sending out sparks from her cheeks that electrified the ground below the thugs, they had no time to release their Pokemon, being electrified. As the terrain died down, Cotee issued Grass knot, looping the grassy vines up their bodies, making them further immobile. "I-i-i-i-i-l b-b-b-b-blame y-y-y-y-y-you!" One shouted, wiggling in an attempt to get free.
With them immobile, Tay rushed over to the crate and quickly began to help the larger Pokemon free itself from the crate, which it'd gotten somewhat stuck trying to get out of. One of the smaller Pokemon joined Tay in helping free the larger mon. In the end, they freed it, and Tay was quickly bombarded with cuddles and thanks for her help. "Of course, of course." Tay chuckled, finding the larger Pokemon's way of rubbing up against her ticklish. "I couldn't not help you." She replied, patting the larger Pokemon on her shoulder. It was hard to see in the darkness, but from Tay could see, the larger Pokemon was rather... pretty. Her leathery skin seemed to sparkle in the street lamp. "Let's go back to the Pokemon center. I'm sure Nurse Joy will help you with these cuts and bruises." Tay mentioned, finding the larger mon was covered in varying sizes of cuts... Those meanies had really done a number on it.
Speaking of, before leaving, Tay made sure to tie the thugs up to a post, normally used to tie down a ship, to keep it from floating away from the dock. Apparently two of the three Pokemon she'd saved were grass-types, because they used vines to help tie the thugs down.

Inside, the music was loud and pounding. There were tons of people all over, including a few Team Skull thugs. Dallas decided to stick to the walls, as best to keep out of their sight, just in case they recognized him. As he went, he took in the rest of the scene: rave girls and boys, really getting busy on the stage, fancier folk drinking at the makeshift bar, a DJ who's booth was a cherry-picker, high above the crowds; it was a hopping, underground scene, for sure. Dallas swallowed the lump in his throat, and quickly found his assigned room to prepare.
As soon as he headed in, he threw his duffle onto the musty-looking couch, and let out Beltigre. "Okay, this is it," Dallas said nervously. He started to unload his duffle bag, pulling out combs, scissors, conditioner and other things, all while his Litten climbed up on his head to take a look. "Okay, so this is gonna be our debut, Beltigre, so we have to really go out there and kick some a**. Plus, that was like, all of my money, and we need that back, pronto." Beltigre mewed, and climbed up and over before falling into the bag with a soft thud.
"You are far too cute, you know that?" Suddenly, an idea struck Dallas like a shotgun blast. "I think I know how we'll win this one!"
Just as soon as the idea occurred to him, there was a loud knock on the door. "Hey, we need you and your Poke'mon's name before this thing gets started!" Dallas quickly wrote up what he needed to on a piece of paper, and slid it under the door. It disappeared to the other side, and then, a chuckle. "That's your name? Whatever, kid. Five minutes until showtime. Get ready."
Dallas looked over at Beltigre, more determined than ever. "Oh, I'm more than ready. We're gonna take home the gold!"

Out on the dance floor, the music abruptly stopped. The dancers cleared the stage, and light started to fill their places. Out from the side, a catwalk on wheels was moved up and connected to the stage, and soon, the onlookers huddled around, preparing for the main event. The DJ had descended from his elevated post, and quickly got up on the stage. "Alright, everybody! You know what time it is?!"
A thunderous applause broke out that lasted for almost a full minute. "That's right, people! It's time..."
"...for Alola's Unofficial Poke'mon Contest!" Cheers and applause roared once more as the familiar contest music played triumphantly over the sound system. "Tonight, we have four contestants, looking to see who can claim the grand prize: Cash money, Rare Poke'mon, and a delightful spa gift basket !" More cheers, more clapping. All of our contenders have paid their way, and now it's time to bring out the lineup!"
A spotlight shined down onto a mature woman, her hair a violet color in a tight and proper bun. She wore business casual, though it was clear that she was far from a casual competitor. "Ladies and Gentlemen, you've seen her compete here time and time again, and she always delivers! Roselynn, and her Barboach, Barbara!" Roselynn released her Barboach, which burst out of her ball and produced a mud puddle. However, the mud was swirled up like a tower, with the eel-like Poke'mon perched on top. There was some high applause for their intro.
"Next up, it's our youngest coordinator at 10 years old! She's out after her bedtime, but she's got a hankering for contests! Daphne, and Jiggly the Jigglypuff!" The young blonde with pigtails and overalls produced a well-cared-for Jigglypuff, Jiggly pantomimed Barbara's performance, and captured some of the Barboach's appeal with its silly mimicry.
After Daphne, a man walked out, dressed in a very Alolan tourist fashion. "He's new to the island, but not to contests! Everybody give it up for Todd, and his beloved Spinster!" Todd let out a Spinarak, that made cute emoji patterns with its Struggle Bug attack. Unfortunately, the crowd didn't seem to all be on board with bugs, but Todd still got some good applause from the crowd.
"And last, and maybe not least, we have a new contender! From parts unknown...Austin Tucksworth, and his Tsundere Litten Beltigre!"
Austin stepped into the spotlight, his hands on his hips and his legs apart, a true confident pose for a truly confident man. He could feel the eyes on him, even from the back of the room, but he kept his model-like expression and casually tossed out Beltigre's ball. She popped out, with as mean as a face as she could muster. She landed oddly, however, and somersaulted a few times before catching her balance and letting out the puniest growl imaginable...and it was downright adorable! "So tsundere! Maybe the new guy's got some skill behind that suit after all!" The crowd agreed, and cheers and whistles filled the warehouse.
Roselynn was baffled; how could she get beat in the intro by some stranger? She went to shoot him a look, and realized who the newcomer was. "You..."
"Me." Austin turned his attention back to the crowd, a pleasant smile on his lips. That's right, b***h, you're about to get stomped by ya boi, Dallas Tucker!

"What an unexpected surprise from our new blood!"
The DJ turned announcer was correct, and the audience (and even the judges) seemed to agree with him. The announcer stepped up to Austin, who was standing straight with perfect posture. "You're all far too kind to an outsider like myself," Austin said. His voice was so articulate and enunciated, very different from the usual gutter speak he spewed at everyone. "I gotta say, I'm digging the retro look, pal," the announcer commented. "It hasn't been since like, five or six years ago any coordinators still went out in a suit n' tie." Austin smiled softly, and took the moment to straighten his bow tie. It had actually been about seven years since the formal wear was the norm, but Austin always loved the older tradition, ever since he was a kid.
"Now, without further ado, let's begin the Performance Round!" Cheers and applause rang out, and Austin and other competitors took their places. "Now, by the judges' scoring, Austin Tucksworth and Beltigre will start off the first round!"
Austin and Beltigre stepped up to the catwalk, and the audience got to see them in full view. Beltigre's fur was extra fluffy, almost giving the illusion of a mighty mane. She walked with a swagger, attempting to look cool, but instead, it was more akin to a child wearing their parent's clothes. "Shall we turn up the heat, Beltigre?" Austin asked. Beltigre let out a gout of flame, but instead of being a scary event, it was more like a thousand little sparkling embers, which fluttered on the drafty air inside. The crowd ooo'd and aaaah'd at the spectacle, which made Beltigre puff out her little tuft of chest fur.
Next up was Roselyn and Barbara, and she was not happy with how well Austin was doing. He gave the older woman a kind smile that oozed with malice as they passed each other. Barbara's performance involved firing fountains of water that put out the sparkles that Beltigre had made, which caught quite a bit of applause.
Daphne and Todd's performances were not all that interesting. It was clear to Austin that the little girl just wanted to show off her Poke'mon, and that this Todd fellow was a total amateur. Hey, they're brave enough to get on the stage, I can respect that. Austin and Beltigre stood proudly and watched the others compete until the scores would be tallied and second round was started.

After the judges made their decisions, they announced that Austin and Beltigre would be going first again. Oh snap, back-to-back? This is going better than I could've dreamed! He smiled and gave the judge's panel a modest bow before he and Beltigre made their way up to the catwalk. Austin had planned to have his partner use an adorable growl, but something unexpected happened. Spinster's bug attack left itchy residue on the catwalk, which made Beltigre fidget and fuss. In frustration, she disobeyed Austin's order and blew more fire to try and get the powder off of her. The audience found it funny, but not raucous. Beltigre mewed sadly as she ran back to Austin, who picked her up gently. "A minor setback, love. We'll still reign supreme."
It would seem that Roselynn and Barbara did no better. The Barboach was also uncomfortable, and its move went off halfheartedly. However, Roselynn had her Poke'mon take aim towards Spinster, and ended up getting mud onto the spider Poke'mon. "Oops, so sorry," she said with a sneer. She and Barbara waltzed off of the catwalk with a very snooty demeanor.
Now covered in Mud, Spinster attempted to show off its prowess, and only ended up making a lackluster performance, getting not much out of the crowd. Daphne did similar, as the itchiness got to Jiggly as well. If Dallas was the one competing, he might've beat the tar out of Todd for screwing him and everyone else up. Luckily for Todd, Austin had too much love of the competition for violence.

Round 3 started, and Beltigre had another deal of bad luck. Beltigre was prepared to make a cute licking face to wow the crowds, but not it was Roselynn and Barbara's Mud Slap that caused them trouble. Beltigre slipped in the mud, and ended up biting her tongue, making her mew sadly. There was a few laughs from the audience, but the judges were not amused. Roselynn made sure to chuckle loud enough that Austin could hear. Keep laughing, lady...you won't be laughing when I break into your house and wreck the place!
Roselynn used the change in momentum to make a solid move. Barbara uses a jet of water to clear the mud out of her way, and slid to the end of the catwalk in an elaborate twirl. The crowd ate it up quickly, and a loud roar of applause filled the air. "Now that's what we're used to seeing from Roselynn and Barbara!" the announcer called out. The audience agreed, and gave the two even more cheers.
After Roselynn, Spinster and Todd went next. Spinster tried to bounce up and do some frontflips, but a slip in the water and excess mud cause it to land flat on its back. A few boos rang out; the audience was not amused. "Better luck next time, Todd!" the announcer joked. "And last but not least, Daphne and Jiggly will..."
Jiggly was asleep, a bubble of snot inflating and deflating from her nose. Daphne used the announcer's mic to make a statement: "Sorry, it's after our bedtime, so Jiggly's sleepy." The crowd gave sympathetic "aaaawwww's", and the judges only docked one point off.
Meanwhile, Austin was thinking of his next move. This is not what I planned...we gotta pull off a big move here if we want to take the lead again...

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Beltigre
The last round of the performance section was about to begin, and Roselynn had taken the lead. "I have to admit, boy, I didn't expect you to do as well as you did." She had clacked up in her heels, wearing that smug look on her face. "But that's just a fluke. I'm going to go ahead and win this contest now, okay? Okay." Austin glanced at her, looking not amused. "Dear Roselynn, a lady like yourself should at least put on the facade of good sportsmanship, lest you come off as boorish." He smiled, which made Roselynn even angrier.
"Here we are at round 4, ladies and gentlemen! Roselynn and Barbara have taken the lead, and will be going first!" The woman stepped up with Barbara, fully confident of her abilities. "Barbara, let's go! Let's show them who the queens of the castle are!" Barbara agreed, and produce a large amount of mud. But, she didn't stop there. Instead, she started the flip and flop the mud up and up until she made a sturdy tower with a little window, which she popped her head in through it. The audience went wild, cheering on Barbara and Roselynn.
But before they could bask in their glory, Beltigre and Austin were on the move. Before Barbara knew what was happening, Beltigre had leaped onto Roselynn's head, and then up above the tower before blowing a big gout of flame. Barbara slinked out of the way just in time, but the tower was struck. It hardened into a clay-like substance that glistened in spots. And Beltigre landed right on top of it, and let out the cutest attempt of a roar she could. The audience lost it, and the judges even got off their feet to applaud Beltigre's effort.
Roselynn was awestruck by the performance, and didn't even bother to watch the other two competitors' turns. Austin casually walked up to her, still looking kind and formal. "That was a fantastic tower you and Barbara created," he commented. "As soon as I saw what you were doing, I figured we could find a way to play off of it." By this point, Roselynn was furious. "Now listen here, you little sack of-"
"Okay, folks, now it's time for the results!" Austin, Roselynn, Todd and Daphne all turned their attention to the judges booth, where an old gentleman stood up. "On behalf of the unofficial judges, we have tallied the scores as such: Daphne and Jiggly, 9 Points! Todd and Spinster, 10 Points! And...tied for first place, Roselynn and Barbara and Austin and Beltigre, both with 21 points!" The crowd went wild while Austin and Roselynn both looked at each other, surprised. "You heard it here first! We have ourselves a tie for first! And that means....BAAAAAAAAAAATLE ROOOOOOOUUUND!"
The crowd went nuts and began to chant "Battle Round! Battle Round!" Roselynn smirked, and shot a look at her new rival. "Looks like you still have some fight left, boy. I hope you can fight half as good as you coordinate." Austin gave a small laugh in response, which caught her off guard. "Oh, dear Roselynn," he said with a glint in his eye, "I may be a gentleman, but I'm well versed in the art of violence.

There was a short intermission as the stage was cleaned, re-positioned, and enlarged to prepare for the battle round. As it was being set up, the announcer explained the rules to the audience. "So, we've reached a tie, which leads to a Battle Round! Now, unlike some boring old Poke'mon battle, our contestants are looking to be the flashiest! The battle will only last 2 minutes, with points being assigned on style that personifies the embodiment of cuteness! Now, lemme ask, are ya ready, people?!" The crowd expressed their excitement with rhythmic clapping and chanting of "Battle Round!"
Meanwhile, the coordinators took their spots up on stage. It was clear that this was more a fight between Roselynn and Austin; they stood across from each other on opposite sides of the stage. To them, Todd and Daphne were just background noise. Austin straightened his suit jacket and kept a close eye on Roselynn, who stood erudite with her hands behind her back. Both Barbara and Beltigre were raring to go, but neither truly understood the tenseness of the newly blossomed rivalry between their trainers.
"It seems our competitors are ready to go! Three! Two! One! Let's BATTLE!"
Roselynn and Austin didn't waste any time starting. "Barbara! Mud-Slap that stupid cat!" Her Barboach darted forward, and flung a thick corkscrew of mud at Beltigre. "Dodge it and give her a lick, won't you, dear?" Beltigre wiggled her tush before pouncing for Barbara. The litten dodged the mud wall, and ended up giving Barbara a lick right across the face. While Beltigre landed on her feet, Barbara tumbled slightly, grossed out from the rough tongue of her competition. The audience got a great big laugh out of it, but neither Roselynn or Austin looked anything but dead serious at the moment.
As for Todd and Daphne, they both seemed to know they were out of their league, and decided to fight for third place. "Spinster, use Attract on Jiggly!" Spinster followed Todd's instructions and made love-eyes at Jiggly. "Ooo! Jiggly, do that too!" Jiggly Mimicked Spinster, which ended with the both of them making love-eyes at eachother. the crowd didn't even bat an eye at the two of them. It was clear that the electricity was coming from the forerunners.

The announcer barely had time to comment on the last turn of events before Beltigre and Barbara were locking metaphorical horns again. "Ember, Beltigre! Let's light this stage up!" The little cat jumped up with a 360 degree spin, and fired the largest gout of flame she could manage towards the barboach. "Not so fast! Water gun, quickly!" Barbara fired off a large amount of water that smashed into Beltigre's fire, making a huge cloud of steam that almost formed a heart. The crowd was whipping itself into a frenzy over the display, and the announcer could only manage to say "Holy moly!"
"Holy moly, indeed. This is not going to be easy. Well then! Stiff upper lip, Beltigre!" The little cat nodded in agreement, and let out a little roar. She planned on running forward for another attack, but She had to cartwheel to dodge a failed maneuver on Spinster's part. The poor thing tried to bounce to keep out of the way of the rest of the competitors, but ended up getting lost in the steam and falling. Meanwhile, Jiggly tried to sing a song to get attention, but was ignored by the crowd. "Y-you meanies! Lookit my Jiggly!" Daphne shouted.

"We've reached the halfway point in the battle round, and things are getting personal! As I speak, local shopclerk Roselynn is squared off against the newcomer, Austin Tucksworth!" The battle didn't really need any commentary, and it was hardly an easy event to do so; Roselynn and Austin were pulling out the stops every which way they could. "Barbara! Mud Sport!" Barbara obeyed, and once more let out a slurry of mud, coating herself in it playfully. The crowd clapped and hollered in approval. "We're gonna win this, Barb! I'm not letting some...newb beat us!"
Beltigre hopped and ducked and shucked and jived out of the way of the falling mud, wearing furrowed brow and a pouty face. After getting out of the way, she actually took off towards Roselynn, and growled at her, playfully slapping her heels with her paws. "D'aw! So cute-wait, I mean, no it's not!" Roselynn blushed at her loss of composure, and her face got even redder when Austin glanced at her and winked. "Oh dear, was that I smile I spied?"
As for Spinster and Jiggly, they were locked in another copycat situation which ended with both of them hoping up high in the air. It caught the attention of Beltigre, curious to the commotion. That's when Roselynn saw her chance. "Barbara, ending flourish, now!"

Before Austin even knew what was happening, Roselynn had made the call for one last attack. The battle round was almost up; what was she planning? It soon became clear, however, as Barbara started to make a giantic heart-shaped ball of mud, and flung it at Beltigre. "Gotcha now, Austin!" She shouted, almost maniaclly. Austin clenched his fist, and had to think on his toes. "Beltigre! Dodge it and come to me!"
With just centimeters to spare, Beltigre darted out of the way of Barbara's muddy attack. It instead hit Roselynn in the legs, coating her shoes and stockings in it. On the bright side, the crowd loved it. "Darnit!" Beltigre didn't pay it any attention, and instead bolted for her trainer. "Up and attem, Beltigre! We're going for the special move!" She jumped onto Austin's head, and from there, vaulted herself even higher into the air.
And that was the first time that Spinster and Jiggly came in handy. Just as they were about to start on their downward path, Beltigre planted her paws on both of their bodies to propel herself even higher. "Here we go! Sparkly Ember Fireworks!"
They had practiced the move for almost three hours before the competition, but they didn't have the height they needed. Beltigre fell a few times, but she hadn't given up. She didn't understand why the flare and fanciness, but she did know one thing: her trainer was very, very devoted to her and to this move. That's why she put on the show she had. That's why she tolerated acting so silly and cute. She did it for her trainer, because her instincts told her he'd do anything for her.
And that's why, when she flipped three times in the air, she put her heart and soul and all of her fury into one more ember attack. She fired straight up, and the little fireball looked rather inconspicuous. Until suddenly, it burst, flying in all directions in the form of twinkly little ashes that caught the spotlights to make rainbow effects. And, then she landed onto the ground on all fours, sticking the landing right as the buzzer went off.
And the crowd went absolutely insane. the applause was so loud, that Beltigre actually got a little timid and ran back to Austin, who scooped her up instantly. He nuzzled her gently, and she mewed with reassurance. "Good job-no, great job! I knew you had it in you." Todd, Daphne, and (reluctantly) Roselynn were in awe at what had just happened. The latter actually looked at Austin with a new look: respect, maybe? But, before they could look further into it, the judges intervened.
"Calm down, everyone! It's time to tally the scores!" The Competitors lined up, and everyone looked rather nervous. "Roselynn." She looked over at Austin, who was looking at her with a sincere face. "Needless to say, you were magnificent out there," he said genuinely. "No matter the outcome, allow me to extend my gratitude for such an amazing bout." Roselynn blushed deeply, and smiled softly. "I'm sorry for being so rude to you, Tucksworth," she replied. She offered her hand to shake. "May the best coordinator win." Austin smiled back and took her hand in solidarity, two lovers of Poke'mon that met on the field of battle.
"Ahem!" Everyone put their eyes on the lead judge as he read from his scoring paper. "Now, for the winners! For third place, we have a tie between Daphne and Jiggly, and Todd and Spinster!" Both of them took bows and shook hands with eachother as the crowd clapped for them. "And, for our winner of this Cute Contest! First place goes too..."
