"Dewott!" Noah chimmed, immediately jumping off the chair and rushing over to the bed side. Clumsily he scaled the side of the bed so that he could see his trainer, glee pretty much written across his face that the man was awake. Lafayette blinked a moment, taking a second to focus on the otter before a lazy smile crossing his face as he reached a hand up to pat Noah on the head.
"Hey there mate," Lafayette murmured, his speech a bit sluggish, which caught him off guard. He knew he didn’t feel completely awake but well he certainly didn’t think he couldn’t speak straight. Noah’s face broke into a full-on grin, practically throwing himself at Lafayette and hugging the man around the neck, rubbing his cheek against him. The Aussie was caught off guard by the show of affection, frowning a little bit before moving his arm to wrap around the pokemon. Okay well maybe it wasn’t that surprising… he imagined Noah had been worried this entire time and all.
"Heh… yeh miss meh mate? Rack off yeh bloke," Lafayette commented though in an affectionate fashion. Noah took the hint and released his hold, plopping down to sit on bed edge. It hadn’t even occurred to him that Cheri had left the room until he glanced back to the chair to see it was empty. Wait, where’d she go?

As though on cue, the door to his room opened and Cheri toddled in with a doctor right behind. It appeared she’d opted to take the initiative to alert someone to Lafayette’s awakened state; either for good or bad wasn’t certain yet. Lafayette frowned as he narrowed a gaze on the little pink Espurr before raising it up at the doctor, disapproval growing. Doctor Pekelo stepped inside and shut the door behind him, adjusting his glasses and giving Lafayette a welcoming smile. Even with that though, it was clear that for the moment he was keeping his distance. Smart man.
"Good to see you’re awake." The doctor commented, fiddling with the files he’d brought with him. Lafayette just kept up the disapproving stare, one hand still patting Noah on the head in his silence. The Dewott seemed willing to answer, raising his arms in the air and giving a cheer. Pekelo seemed to welcome this, giving a little nod. "Well, they’re happy to see you awake. They were really worried, you know." He gestured at the Dewott and even gave Cheri a glance, though it was really hard to tell from her unchanging expression that she really had been concerned at any point. The Aussie just grunted, shifting restlessly. He didn’t need this bed manner talk; he wanted to get up and out of this place.
"When tha' hell can I shoot through this place, mate?" He finally spoke, speech slowly beginning to come around proper. It was clear he was growing agitated again and Pekelo sighed and adjusted his glasses once more. He moved a bit closer, clearly braving the potential dangers in the process.

"Young people and their strange lingo nowadays," Pekelo mused, offering still a pleasant smile at Lafayette. The Aussie just continued the blank, disapproving stare. He didn’t know if the doctor was trying to make friendly or what but he didn’t care for the pleasantries. He wanted to be up and moving out as soon as possible.
"I’m personally surprised you haven’t asked where your arm is again." Lafayette was a bit confused by that and soon his mind violently jogged to the to fact that he was… one arm down. It was… weird to reconsider especially since up until the doctor hand mentioned anything, he hadn’t recalled it was well… not there. There was some sort of ghostly sensation that had him thinking it was but when he looked well… there was bandages and very nasty looking scarring… but no arm.
Well now he was even less pleased. "Yeh a ********’ dag mate? Thinkin’ it’s funneh?" The Aussie growled back looking ready to sock a fool. Noah perked up and immediately acted as a wall, pressing his paws against Lafayette to keep him from jumping up and doing anything rash, earning a harsh glare from the Aussie. The doctor frowned, stance tensing as he took on a more serious positioning. "Of course not; what happened to you is no laughing matter." He snapped the folder shut. "Neither is punching doctors and terrorizing nurses attempting to help you." Lafayette fell quiet on that. Wellll…. They deserved it in his mind. Pekelo eyed him a moment before returning to his documents.
"But yes, in all honesty you’re free to leave when you feel ready you’re ready too. You’ve made a good start to recovery; the stitches held and there was no infection which is usually the primary concern in a Sharpedo attack," he looked up at Lafayette on this point "which are rare occurrences by the way." The Aussie wasn’t sure if that was a questioning tone or accusatory; either way, he didn’t really appreciate the insinuation that he’d gone and done something. Even if he was the type to… probably do something.
"Still though, you should take it easy for a bit. It can be… quite a change to get used to losing a limb." He tapped the pen against the folder. "We attempted to get in contact with your family, but your communicator was damaged in the process. Someone sent over a new one though…. I’d honestly advise reaching out to your family about this." Lafayette quirked his head a bit in consideration. He wasn’t exactly sure either of his parents would respond well to knowing their son had gone and lost an arm. Among other things. Pekelo gestured again, drawing Lafayette’s attention back. "I’ll have one of the nurses find you a change of clothes and gather your things. You’ll need to sign some paper work before you leave, discharge papers and what not. Alright?" Lafayette grimaced at this before slowly nodding.
"A’igh’ mate."
"Good. You just rest easy a moment and they’ll have your things in no time, alright?" Pekelo gave a final pleasant smile, giving Cheri a little pat on the head as he passed before leaving Lafayette and his pokemon alone once more.

Twenty or so minutes later and a nurse (one he hadn’t seen before and who probably wasn’t entirely privy to his early actions) arrived with his tool belt, duffel bag and a change of clothes. He gave a little grumble of thanks and the nurse bowed and left him alone to change. It took a bit to get up and get the feeling back in his legs; he wasn’t one for being bed ridden and well two weeks… was certainly a long time not to be up and moving around. Still though, that wasn’t even the worse part. He paused a moment, rubbing at the shoulder of his absent arm. There were still bandages though he imagined they’d be removable well after he left given what the doctor had said. The scars were rather jarring, lighter than his regular skin tone and jagged looking in nature. He imagined under the bandages was far worse. Still it was just so weird…. The empty space. It felt like his arm should still be there, that he should be able to moves his fingers. Just thinking about it, he could picture and… feel the action. Or what he thought felt like the action. It was … so weird. Pekelo was right, this was going to take some getting used to.
Noah gave a chirp and Lafayette shook himself out of the awkward stupor his thoughts had put him in. Right, he needed to get dressed. Standing he maneuvered over to the chair where the nurse had left the clothing. Apparently, his flannel shirt hadn’t survived the incident either and so they had provided him what looked to be a tourist style-Alolan shirt; it was a vibrant green with a faint floral pattern across the chest. Not really his style and he couldn’t hide the scrunching of his face over that either. Still, he supposed it was a nice gesture and there was no point in complaining; he could find a new shirt later if he really wanted. At least his hat… was still there. He picked it up first and looked it over, frowning in disappointment at the considerable chunk missing due to a Sharpedo bite. Well ******** sighed. If he ever saw a Sharpedo again he was going to punch it’s lights out. In a battle or out in the wild. Probably, not the best plan given all that had happened to him but well, he was a little bit upset that some of his favorite pieces of clothing had been made snacks for them. Chucking the hat to the side for now, he retrieved the pieces and went about putting them on. It was awkward and a bit difficult; where he’d raise both arms there was only one to raise, where he’d use one to pull the shirt down for the other well… there was no such way to do so. He was lucky his undershirt was a simple tank; anything else would’ve probably required help. Getting his pants on wasn’t too difficult, albeit not as quick as he was use too; belting was okay, getting his tool belt on though required Noah’s help. And shoes well… he just tucked the laces into them for now. He just… didn’t care.
After a rough few minutes he was fully dressed. Noah was grinning and standing nearby, beaming up at his trainer, clearly proud to see the man moving as he should be. Cheri sat in the chair, observing the coloring book Noah had been provided, gaze only deviating once Lafayette was finished to give him her standard stare. He glanced at her and quirked an eyebrow. Yup… Cheri was ever the same. He grabbed the duffle bag and eyed it a moment, considering slinging it over his shoulder before recalling his situation.
"Here Noah, carreh’ this fa’ me mate." Lafayette murmured, handing the bag to the pokemon. With chest puffed in pride he took it to do just that, hauling it onto his own back and giving his trainer a thumb up. Cheri crawled off the chair, crayon box and coloring book in her possession. Alright, everyone seemed set. With a nod Lafayette yanked open the door and headed out for the lobby of hospital. Right… paperwork.

Lafayette walked out into the lobby and for the desk, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end. He really disliked hospitals and the sooner he got out the better. Pekelo was already waiting at the desk with the paperwork neatly attached to a clipboard. He looked up and noted the displeased look on the Aussie’s face, offering him a pen and tapping the top of the papers as he set them down.
"Just sign these and you’ll be set to go." The blonde just grumbled, snatching up the pen and staring down at the papers in agitation. The words on the page were nothing but a jumble for him and he found himself squinting a bit as he struggled to make it out. He normally avoided doing any kind of paper work… or any work that required reading. He knew one thing for sure though; he was supposed to scribble on the lines and that was exactly what he did. He didn’t even care if it was legible. Single handedly (as if he had much of a choice) he completed the forms and shoved them over, earning a bit of a curious look from Pekelo.
"Done." Lafayette snapped and with that immediately turned to start for the door. "Hold on there." He felt a hand quickly latch onto his shoulder though and was prepared to whirl around and hit someone when he noticed it was Pekelo again. The doctor immediately withdrew his hand from his shoulder, thrusting out the other with a piece of paper.
"This number’s for the young man who brought you in. He wanted to keep in touch to make sure you were alright," he gave a little nod at the paper, quirking an eyebrow, "should you want to reach out to him that is. He’d probably appreciate it." Lafayette narrowed a gaze, shifting between the paper and the man. He didn’t feel inclined to offer anyone a call or a thank you for all that happened; he was half tempted to believe the young man was at fault for his arm loss. But that wasn’t true and the semi-rational part of his brain knew it. He wasn’t sure if Pekelo would harass him about it but finally Lafayette relented and took the paper, glancing at it briefly before shoving it away in one of his spare pockets.
"Ta mate." The Aussie grumbled, giving a little flick of his wrist in goodbye before turning and marching out. Any more lagging and then there’d be questions and really, he wasn’t in the mood. Noah quickly skipped after, giving the doctor a friendly wave goodbye. Cheri was the only one who lingered, staring up at the doctor with her look, earning a smile and a nod from him. Once that silent communication had occurred she was off as well, the last individual of the group to exit through the doors.

It was hard to miss how bright out it was now and Lafayette absently raised a hand to shield his eyes as he squinted to look around. He wasn’t sure exactly where he was in this city. He was right outside the hospital, there was a street and several buildings around. He could’ve really used a map or something. Absently he started to wander and once it became clear he wasn’t certain where he was going, Cheri took the lead. Where her trainer seemed to lack a sense of direction regarding the new city, she’d done some research or something. Maybe. Either way, she led him to the pokemon center (much to his chagrin) and he stepped inside.
Dropping his team off to be healed because well, why not, he took a seat and checked his communicator. There were numerous messages stored on the device, voice mails apparently that were locked behind a simple password. He had to think about it a moment before tapping the screen and trying to figure out what it might be when his touch seemed to immediately unlock them. Weird though… they were just a silent buzzing. ”So you’re finally up, hm?” A voice suddenly spoke, tone sardonic. Lafayette narrowed his gaze and looked up just a bit to see an unimpressed Juliean occupying the space across him, his Alakazam right beside the table and eyeing the Aussie as well. He didn’t respond, instead dropping his hand away from the communicator; he had an idea on what those messages did now.
”So,” Juliean leaned against the table, cupping his chin in his hand as he did, ”tell me in what part of the mission was it that you decided getting attacked by Sharpedos was going to help you out. Hm? Please, do tell.” The man drawled on. The blonde winced and nostrils flared a bit in agitation. He was more than use to Juliean’s demeaning mannerisms and this? This was nothing new but in the current situation something about his words just… made Lafayette’s blood boil. Lashing out would have dire consequences though and so he just remained where he was, un-moving and unresponsive to the inquiry.

Juliean didn’t seem to like that, immediately sitting back as a serious expression took his face. It was evident that while Lafayette had been out of commission for a few weeks that he’d fallen behind in his work. Enough of a fall to piss off his employer.
”Well I see you’re still not feeling up to explaining. That’s a shame because really, this was your only chance to give me a reasonable excuse. What, did they rip out your tongue as well?” Lafayette scowled. Reasonable excuse for getting attacked? How about ‘it was a freak accident’? Obviously Juliean hadn’t been sitting on his a** this entire time; he was aware of what had happened at least.
”I have no real use for an invalid, you understand this yes?” Lafayette expression distorted further in… disgust? Condemnation? Something unpleasant. ”You’re only real use was your strength and well, we can see that’s probably not something you’ll be using much anymore.” The Aussie’s rage was starting to build at this point. ”I mean, you’re not smart; you can’t read or write for that matter, I saw that horrific signature of yours,” he flicked a hand through the air, ”oh certainly, you can fix things but well… I can get that far cheaper anywhere. "I ain’ useless mate if that’s wha’ yeh sayin’." Lafayette hissed, a fist nearly slamming the table in combination with his rage. Juliean just looked unperturbed by the act; if it was meant to be an intimidation act them well, he clearly wasn’t intimidated. Still though, the death glare he was receiving was enough to have him pause and consider the comment.
”Oh? Is that so?” He commented lazily, reaching a hand out and gently placing it against his Alakazam. Lafayette had forgotten the pokemon was there and took on a brief look, noting it looked ready to defend as needed. He didn’t really care though; he’d dealt with pokemon far more menacing than it before. ”And why should I believe that, hm?”
"Because I ain’. So there." Juliean stared a moment before scoffing loudly. ”Oh well is that so? Because you say so? My, my, my you do make the most compelling arguments Lala.” He paused and considered a moment, removing his hand from his pokemon to tap the side of his head. ”Mm…. alright then.” Lafayette’s rage temporarily disappeared with his surprise. He’d expected to do just a bit more arguing with Juliean but the man had conceded… very quickly. There was probably more to it then he was seeing; not that he was thinking that far ahead. ”You think you’re still useful hm? Well… fine. We’ll see. Finding new help is too much of a waste of time anyways.” Juliean got up from his seat, taking a few steps away before adjusting his glasses and looking back at the Aussie.
”Then get back to training. And collecting pokemon. If I really need you for something more useful I will contact you. Try not to rip off more limbs in the meantime, hm?” Lafayette growled a bit but nodded; of course it wasn’t immediately that simple but well… it was better than nothing at the moment. Just something about the whole useless and invalid remarks had burned him up but well… he’d prove this jackass wrong all the same. With that handled, Juliean took the silence as a response, giving a little nod, and looking to his Alakazam and in a blink of an eye, the pair disappeared. Lafayette steamed a bit before finally getting up from his chair, retrieving his team from the nurse behind the counter. Right then… well… he supposed it was time to get back to training.

Lafayette stepped outside and took a deep breath of fresh air. With Juliean out of his sight now, his rage was slowly subsiding. He really wasn’t sure what it was about the man’s words but they had simply… ‘urked’ him unbelievably, which normally wasn’t something that happened when he spoke to that man. Juliean was a grade-A a*****e and Lafayette had quickly learned in the earlier months of working for him to just let it roll off his back. But this time it just… didn’t come easily. Maybe the reality of what had happened to him was still trying to settle in and he was maybe just… emotional still about it. Not that it really showed; it was complicated. He wasn’t much for showing anything like that but well right now… he was bothered and things could sting.
No point mulling over it right now. He had his chance and needed to get a move on; he had a lot to make up for with his time in the hospital. Without hesitation, he unleashed Noah and Cheri again allowing the Dewott to hold the bag again. Cheri was out… he didn’t know why, he just felt she needed to be out. Noah seemed pleased to be out and took his job as bag holder seriously, Cheri just staring off into the distance. She was weird.

Right so what was he going to do first? Lafayette felt he ought to go about getting the next few badges to catch up but that would probably require some training. He also needed to decide exactly which badge he would go for though he supposed that was something he could consider while training. He glanced at Cheri eyebrow quirking some as he caught her staring at him. It was kind of apparent that she was following along with his thoughts (he’d come to notice that was something she did) and so decided to seek her ‘expertise’.

The man frowned and rolled his eyes, kneeling, and thrusting the arm out for her to look. After her last fiasco of randomly texting people he didn’t quite trust her to handle it on her own. She knew it too and didn’t try to take the device, instead scanning through the options, and finding one for Lafayette to review. Then they needed to get moving. Lafayette honestly wanted to put as much distance between himself and this place right now and he released Dova and the Noivern immediately perked up at the sight of her trainer, thrusting herself forward and nuzzling the man in excitement. The blonde was rather surprised, nearly losing his footing in the process as the slightest of frowns appeared on his face.
"Dova-" he remarked sternly, watching as she drew back and stared at him, seeming to immediately notice the lack of an appendage. Her ears drooped considerably and she gave a whine, nuzzling near the empty space beside Lafayette and earning a growl from the man. "Rack off sheila! I ain’ in the mood!" He growled, shoving her face away from his side. She drooped and whined again, clearly semi-distressed at this situation. Did she blame herself? He didn’t see a reason for her too; she wasn’t a Sharpedo or that stupid black pokemon thing…
The Aussie shook his head, sighing and gently patting the Noivern between the ears. "S’alrigh’ Dova. Let’s jus’ get goin’." He murmured, feeling her perk a bit and nod. With that settled he, Noah and Cheri saddled up on the dragon and once everyone was settled, they lifted off to head to their destination for training.

When the light of the pokemon center came into view across the street Takumi almost teared up with relief. He didn't care about anything Jun had said about them being dangerous to stay in if he didn't want to be found- all he cared about was getting inside and faceplanting on a bed for once. And that's just what he did, just after peeling his clothes off for a heavy shower. His hair hung heavy over his left eye, but he could see it. He stared dully at the unseeing eye and covered it with one hand. Still the same... The skin around it hurt; he was sure it would leave a scar. Takumi didn't bother to put cover it before he went to bed- after all, there was no one there to see it. In the morning he had his clothes washed and bought himself a huge breakfast before catching a boat to Akala island. He had heard there was a grand resort there, and after a night at the pokemon center had lead to nothing more harmless than a late start on the day, he had decided he deserved to relax at a place befitting his status.

The group rolled through Hau’Oli with little issue and Sullivan immediately made his way for the pier. While he certainly could just ride Kairi across the waves, the trip between islands was rather long and and he didn’t quite want to put the strain of such travel on her. Not that she probably couldn’t handle it; darn they’d done a lot of water sports over time but those where is short bursts; not clear over the ocean. No for now, he’d forgo it. Plus, he wanted to allow Mana and Junpei to stay out; something that riding Kairi wouldn’t have quite allowed for.
No, a boat ride was good enough for him. Luckily there were still a few ships preparing to set off for his next destination. He booked himself passage and climbed aboard when given the go ahead, finding himself a nice spot near the rails to take in the passing ocean sights once they started out. Yup, this was just fine with him.
