Situated along an alternate pass through the various mountains of Rai no Kuni's north east coastal lands is the trading post town of Seizan (青山). Situated in a valley between mountains it can seem quiet the idyllic village during the summer as it sits in the shadows of lush blue-green mountains. In the fall it can even be a rather pretty destination when many of the trees turn a bright red and orange. However in winter treacherous winds and snow make travel to the trading post highly dangerous. Many who venture out never get seen again, thus stories of yuki onna and other yokai are rather popular in the region. In the spring fresh snow melt helps to provide fertile ground for rice crops.
The town itself features small time merchants who buy and sell to the trading groups that pass through town, and a rather infamous inn known well among traders. Named the Love Love Inn it is a popular place to spend the night among many of the individuals who come to this town. For a price a little on the high side the inn offers companionship along with food and drink. Beyond the inn and the small time merchants there is little else of interest within the town. However the mountains could provide ample room for training to the shinobi or kunoichi looking for isolation.

As the men and women of the town went about their normal daily lives, merchants selling wares. Women of ill repute selling their "wares" , restaurants full of people eating and drinking. A most curious event began to unfold. An unnatural mist began to roll across the village, followed by the most unnatural silence. Then, in classic trope fashion, a scream pierced the air. Followed by another, then a cry for mercy. Then, silence. As the citizens moved into the streets it began. Explosions rocking buildings sending shrapnel through the air, kunai and senbon ripping flesh from bodies. The farther the mist spread the more lives were claimed. Until in short order the entire village soon fell silent one last time. ~ Event START
__ Ada's gaze became even more stern as they neared their destination, finding the area to be progressively more and more difficult to see due to the strange mist's presence. What was worse was the stench of blood and dust in the air. "Wait..." She said quietly, signalling with her right hand for the group to come to a stop. Ada definitely couldn't make out anything up ahead, but the signs made her worry that they could walk into an ambush. "Kenshin, your eyes if you'd please. Everyone else, stay on guard." If the atmosphere wasn't eerie enough, the dead silence from the trading town of Seizan was deeply concerning. This place did not feel super special awesome. Selina started to visible shake as the thick mist encompassed the area. The location reeked of blood. Selina was sure this place did not suit her, but she was here regardless. In order to calm herself, the young girl hummed quietly to herself. Chakra was poured into the humming in order to make pink flowers form by her feet. The creation was all she could do to make herself more at ease.
__ As the squad approached the fog all vision of what lied ahead was blurred. The silence that fell on Seizan was unnerving. The smell of blood tainted his nostrils as he came to a halt and listened to Ada. When she requested that he use his all-seeing dojutsu he complied. His hands came together in a tiger handseal as he flowed his chakra into his ocular nerves. "Byakugan!" In that moment enlarged veins surrounded his piercing pearly eyes as he looked forward. He spoke quietly in a low voice that would only be audible to those in his near proximity. "Numerous corpses, kunai, shrapnel, senbon, and debris from explosions." His eyes continued their piercing surveillance over the area as he continued to give intel. "This fog is...artificial, I can see the chakra inside of it. Rio-Kyuri, get ready to use your defenses at any time." Kosei continued to look around as his eyes pierced through walls and looked into the outskirts of the village. "There are men wearing gas masks, highly suspicious, but they are not close to us." Everyone in the squad would be able to hear his intel. "We can either proceed further into Seizan or secure our position here and wait for them to come to us." These were the options presented by Kenshin in the wake of all of this information.

All about the team, as they near the outskirts of Saizen, an un-natural fog hung in the air. The city which was reported for its bustling nightlife and entertainment, was silent as the sun hung just above the horizon. Not simply quiet completely and utterly silent. With the sun setting and the wind shifting, the team would now be down wind of the village. Upon the wind was the sickeningly sweet metallic smell of blood. As young Kenshin attempted to activate his byakugan, he would be met with a field of static, though certain small bits of buildings, trees, things of the sort could still be made out. However where the fog was clear, so was his vision. Unfortunately the fog was still centered upon the village.
Hachiro trailed behind the other KPD members. His knees were slightly bent and a single hand gripped his sword, but he would not unsheathe until a target revealed itself. He could sense a fight coming, however. The princess' humming irked him, but he refrained from saying anything at the moment. He was tense, but he wasn't going to strike mindlessly either. " Kosei, anything?" he asked as he teased the guard of his blade with his thumb in order to push it out of its resting spot at a moments notice.
Chi sniffed the air cautiously. Tsukiko walked slowly, which felt like a snail's pace in comparison to her usual speed. She frowned at the scene but waited for any specific orders.
__ Both normal and metal grains were gradually leaked from various sealing points on Ada's person in anticipation for the danger that had the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end. If she needed more to protect the others then it would be unsealed in much larger quantities. For now, this was enough. Salina was ready to jump at a moment's notice. She was so nervous. More flowers bloomed as she hummed away. Each step was more skittish than the less.
__ The silence was unbroken and the stillness gave no token as Kenshin activated his byakugan and stared into Seizan. The chilly winds of the mountains blew over his skin as he smelled blood, death, and the consequences of violence. He continued to look around as his all-seeing white eyes attempted to pierce the veil of the fog. This fog was thick and even he was unable to see through it. "What is this fog? It must be made of chakra." His analysis that this fog was made with a heavy amount of chakra obscuring his dojutsu was likely correct. The static his eyes were met with only served to infuriate him more. "Damn them, they're blocking my vision and probably killing people in there." He started grinding his teeth in frustration before ceasing and speaking up. "This fog is made of chakra, even I can't see through it. I'm sure you can all smell the blood on the wind. This was no mere kidnapping, this was mass murder." Kosei spoke with intense rage as he continued to try to look into Seizan and failed. "If we walk into Seizan then we'll be blind and practically begging for an ambush." He considered the options for a moment before turning to Ada. "First in command, if you raise your defenses we can all run in there and counter their ambush. We can also fortify our position here and wait for them to come to us." These were the only two options Kenshin could conceive of at the moment. All he wanted to do at this point was find a way to kill those snakes in their hole.
Hachiro stood by Kosei now, turning to him as he disributed their options. He shook his head as though to say no. His nose twitched as the hair on his arm and neck stood on end. " Ma'am, I say we take the first option and push forward. Waiting just gives them more time to do....whatever they're doing to people."
Hachiro continued to thumb at his sword's hilt, tempted to draw it and charge. His confidence in his skills was matched only by his wary senses of danger. He knew running forward into the fog was most likely a suicide run. His training had allowed him to sense hostile intent, but not its direct location, all of his senses were now on high alert.
Chi had been waiting for some action ever since Tsukiko graduated. The cat looked ready to pounce on anyone or anything that made itself known, and seemed to agree with the plan to charge forward. "I'm not hearing anything, either," Tsukiko admitted with a frown. If they couldn't see, couldn't hear... they were sitting ducks. "I think they're gonna attack regardless of what we do; we might as well not give them enough time to plan an organized assault." She favored the idea of moving forward also, because they had to assume the bandits could sense them perfectly and she didn't want them to fortify in a close-together position that would make them especially vulnerable to explosives.
__ Ada gently set one of her index fingers against the middle of her forehead, clearly thinking carefully about their options. As well, she did keep her team's suggestions in mind to know where their morale stood. Since they were all pretty much in agreement she would officiate the order, "Alright team. I will clear a path for us as we finish our approach to Seizan. Kosei-san, do your best with your Byakugan as I get rid of some of this fog in our way. Everyone else, be on high alert for ambushes and survivors. Remember that our primary objective is to find out the cause of the missing locals." She paused to raise both hands up, palms directed toward the sky, "There is a possibility that whatever has happened here isn't directly involved with our mission..." A massive flow of iron sand came from her hands and scattered into the sky as her magnetic field's control was focused on the metal cloud, "But we are still shinobi of Kumogakure too." She hoped that last bit of clarification let them know that they wouldn't abandon their general duties to the Land of Lightning either. The last of her sealed metal reserves from her gloves' palm was released and all of it would be controlled to take a rather large dome like formation for a moment.
With a needless snap of her fingers the sand would begin to accelerate into its orbit centered around Ada herself. It's counterclockwise rotation would soon reach such speed that the group literally became somewhat of the eye of a storm. "Let's go." The breeze produced as a result would gradually push the fog away as the KPD squad marched right up to Seizan. Since their vision was limited anyway, this spinning wall of metal made no major difference to the situation. At least now they had a rather large area of vision in their immediate vicinity even without the Hyuuga dojutsu, and anything that interacted with the loosely formed metal dome would also be detected by Ada herself. When enough of the fog was dispersed she could repurpose her metal for a more focused defense or counterattack if necessary. In the meantime, Ada led the way up to the village along the main road. As the Iron sand started to swirl around and clear the fog, Selina hummed louder. Now she was even more anxious. There were clearly bad guys ahead. Anti-perception fogs don't magically form on their own. This was just like that one episode of Super Girls Deluxe where Zabrina and her team fall right into an ambush. Flowers grew again as Selina forced herself to stop humming. If she was going to get attacked, then she had to ready herself. She had to stop humming and focus on being ready to strike. So her hands grabbed the bow on her back and drew an arrow. She placed the arrow on the bowstring as she slightly held the string back to keep the arrow pinned in place. She aimed her bow low to the ground as she fearfully worried about what happened next.
