[GM PRP] A peculiar dream [Shun/???]

Dreams were not uncommon for Shun. Nor were nightmares. This was the case before he ever started to dream of Other Ashdown, though it certainly became even more regular afterwards.

Tonight was just another dream.

Maybe.

Perhaps his problems were simple enough for a dream.

This night, this dream of other ashdown, Shun would find himself outside an optometrist.

The door swung open, a single light on within and the sound of a tune hummed heard. It was something familiar and long forgotten that nudged at Shun's memories.

Shun blinked as he realized where he was right now. Outside of... an optometrist?

He wasn't going to put much stock into that, but then the door swung open, seemingly on its own. From within was an oddly familiar tune. He couldn't quite think of where he had heard it before, and it was kind of nagging at his memory.

With a bit of caution, he started to make his way in towards the single light within. He was tense, though. One could never be too careful in Other Ashdown, even in a dream.

The place was empty, though there were glasses along the wall on display that were dusty and never used as well as the smiling faces of models wearing glasses to show off those particularly expensive brands.

Whomever was humming was not apparent but the noise continued, deeper within and down the hallway. No receptionist was at the desk but if Shun looked, his name was written down for an appointment.

A date was written down but it was hard to make out. The only thing that was legible was February.

The door to the back, to the examination rooms was open, and both the light and humming came from deeper within.

Raising his brow at the displays upon the wall, he continued on until he reached the front desk. There was no receptionist, but he did notice there was a name down as to who was to have an appointment soon. He noticed it was his name.

If he wasn't on high alert before, he certainly was now.

Shun flexed his hands lightly in anticipation, then quietly started to make his way further in, towards the source of the humming. Someone was expecting him.

Once he reached the examination room, he quietly peered in.

There was no one there, the room dark and empty save for a screen that the flickering familiar alphabet that one had to read while having their eyes checked.

When he peered inside he would realize that the humming was from this room though it stopped finally.

Instead, there was a voice that whispered in his ear: "Have a seat."

It was his voice but older, gruffer.

The detective froze as he heard the voice. It sounded an awful lot like his own. The voice came whispering into his ear, but he didn't see anyone else around. Granted, this was hardly the first time he's had to deal with disembodied voices in Other Ashdown.

While this was just a dream and it should theoretically not be able to harm his actual body back at his apartment, anything was possible.

"Who are you and what do you want?" he asked instead of seating himself.

Shun was shoved hard at his question towards the chair.

"Stop being so thick," the voice responded, "we've met before."

Shun grunted as he was shoved towards the chair. He just kind of begrudgingly made his way to the chair and seated himself.

"That only answers the who. Not the why," he muttered, "Are you not dead right now, anyway?"

"I'm something," the voice replied, "but it's not important. You're the one who recently lost an eye, aren't you?"

The phoropter on an extendable arm was swung a little closer to Shun but not in front of him.

"Does the eyepatch not give that much away?" he asked dryly. He eyed the device that moved a bit closer, though it wasn't quite in position for the whole eye examination process.

"My other eye is just fine, by the way."

"Never not a smart a**," the voice replied dryly, "and I'm aware that the other is fine." Shun could practically hear the sarcasm.

"Are you going to keep up the witty commentary or do you want some help?"

Shun drew in a breath, "How exactly are you to help me?"

There was a scoffing noise.

"Whether this will be viewed as help or not is up in the air. You took the dagger quite well, didn't you?" The phoropter was swung back and forth but never actually in front of Shun's face.

"After experiencing it being stabbed into my chest. Yes."

Shun folded his arms over his chest while eyeing the phoropter.

"Better question. What do you plan on doing to me?"
