Prince Tousa of Darinest
The caravan rolled down the poorly maintained dirt road at a snails pace, foot soldiers standing next to each cart as they moved along, keeping time with each other and the speed of their mission with rigorous training. A few men on horseback would ride up and then down the column, sending messages back and forth from the rear guard to those of the vanguard and any clump of soldiers in between. It was not a spectacular show of military might, but it was important. That was what Tousa was told anyways.
The prince sat on his horse in the front, flanked by a guard on each side, his spear being held lazily in one hand, his armor didn't even make a sound as he turned to speak with the guard on his right, an older man and much more experienced. "So tell me why we are not on the front lines Sir Varin?"
The grey bearded and wizened old man glanced first to the prince and then to their surroundings. "Reports of raids being commenced in the area have made this route to the front line in need of more security your highness. Your father, the king, ordered you here so that you would know that war isn't just about having glory on the front lines, but also about maneuvering and making sure you always know the logistics behind your strategy."
Tousa looked around with the old man after a moment with a sigh. "My father has a strange way of looking at war then. Crushing your opponent on the field of battle is the only way to secure a short and decisive victory."
Sir Varin gave a nod. "It is as you say Prince Tousa, I will not deny, but your father has his own way of doing things, and neither viewpoint is necessarily wrong. You must adapt to your surroundings and-."
A rider came flying up the caravan column. "Urgent report Prince Tousa! One of the scouts has reported back and found another scouts body! It was the one that went missing two days ago!"
Tousa smiled and looked to Sir Varin with a bit more enthusiasm for his job suddenly. "Seems like the reports were right. You did well to report this to me, warn the troops down the line and then rest in the wagon in the back. You did well."
The scout gave a half-bow on the horse. "Thank you, your highness." The scout turned and began to make his way down the column of wagons and provisions, shouting for the soldiers to be on the lookout. Tousa himself was glancing around now, his horse stirring a bit at the idea as well, much like its rider. "Easy there Dolar. Easy."

Anja was jumping from branch to branch, trying not to make any noise. Their target was approaching the ambush point and everyone had to get in place for it. She heard reports from several scouts that the Prince himself would be overseeing this caravan safely through the woods. Little did they know that they weren't going to get past them. Anja took her position in the dense branches of a tree. The leaves provided more than enough cover for herself and her pack. Well, it wasn't hers. She was second in command. The first in command was Maxas. An honorable male. A scout came up to them, "The caravan's guards are greater than we anticipated. Prince Tousa is with them as well. The will be here in 5 minutes."
Maxas was the one who spoke up, "Thank you scout. You may go." and so he did. Maxas turned to Anja, "Do you think we can win?"
Anja looked into his eyes, "Yes, I do. They may have greater numbers but numbers don't win wars." she smirked and got out her bow.
From then on, they used bird calls to communicate with each other. When the caravan was in view, Anja's heart started to race. It was almost time. Maxas turned to her, "You can have the first strike against them." Anja nodded her head, "Yes sir." Maxas was more than her superior. He was going to be her mate. She loved him and he loved her back. After this was over, they were going to get officially mated after putting it off for so long.
Very soon, the caravan was in position. It was time for the ambush. She pulled out two arrows, took aim at the two guards flanking the Prince. A deep breath in and......shoot! Anja let the arrows fly. In seconds, both of the arrows buried themselves in the skulls of the guards, killing them instantly, "ATTACK!" She yelled. She leapt out of hiding and began to shoot down other guards. Maxas attacked the Prince head on [You may kill off this character if you wish. Or gravely injure. Your choice.]
The others in their unit attacked from all sides, some in human for, others in their Wolf Form. Anja stayed at a distance, using her strength as a marksman to fight the enemy

Prince Tousa of Darinest
Prince Tousa tensed as he heard the soft whistle of arrows, both of the knights that flanked him falling over as arrows securely lodged themselves in their skulls. "AMBUSH!" He cried as their attackers lunged from their surroundings. The spear was taken from a lazy grip to one of practice as he clenched his legs around his horse, one of the bandits lunging towards him, easily tearing up the soft underbelly of the horse that he was riding as it reared back in surprise.
"Dammit-." The prince cried as his horse fell over, tossing him away a short distance. The attacker didn't even give pause, agile in his movements. Tousa stood as quickly as he could, using the haft of his weapon to deflect the blow as he did so. Now standing he squared off against his opponent with his spear pointed at his foe. "You dare attack a caravan under my protection thief?" He growled. What words were stated to him were drowned out as he clashed headlong with his opponent, thrusting and parrying as he danced the dance of death with his foe.
This wasn't going to be a simple fight, he would have to leave the rest of the caravan to his soldiers for now, he would help them when he was no longer engaged in combat against an opponent of his own. It did not take long however to find a weakness in his opponents guard and stance. A lancing blow to the leg was struck to his enemy as a nick to his arm was given back as payment. Then a slicing blow to his enemies shoulder. Another blow parried and then a thrust to the cheek, slicing skin from his opponent, but still his attacker pressed on. That was when Tousa heard the howls for the first time, it made him pause as he once more squared off with his foe.
"So, you are beastkin that stalk these woods. I should have known that such savages would take advantage of our people during a time of war." His gaze watched his opponent carefully, waiting for an opening. He couldn't use magic yet... It would be expected of him. For now, a tense standoff would suit his needs better. It would certainly stop this one from killing other soldiers at least.

Anja wasn't paying much attention to the fight with Maxas, until she smelled his blood. She would not interfere for now, but it made her worry. She ran closer to them, attacking men as she went along, getting herself cut in the process. She had her bow in one hand and the dagger in the other. She maneuvered quite beautifully. When she got to take breather, she looked at the two of them again. they were at a stand off. Anja didn't care if she were being disrespectful. She aimed an arrow right at the Prince's head, and she made sure he saw her too. Anja took a look around the battlefield. Things weren't looking good. They were losing. If they stayed here anymore they all would die. They needed to retreat.
She launched another arrow at the Prince and ran to Maxas. She fired more arrows, "We need to get you out of here. We are overrun." Maxas stared back at her and took a look for himself. After a few seconds of thinking he barked out an order, "EVERYONE, RETREAT!!!" "I'll provide cover for you." "No Anja, you are too precious, let me." "No, I can't do that. You are injured. Besides, I wouldn't let these guys kill me. I'll meet up with you." They kissed and he hauled himself into a retreat. Anja shot arrow after arrow at the pursuing guards, stopping them from attacking. Once all of her fellow pack members, the ones t hat were alive, had a chance to get away, she would fire one last shot before making her escape. She reached for more arrows, but there wasn't any left. She had run out! She turned around and started to run away. But she heard the sounds of horses galloping behind her.

Anja did not need a weapon to beat a soft royal. She merely readied her hands and focused. She dodged his attacks easily. Her body was like water as the spear tried to pierce her. She wouldn't go on the attack just yet, it was too soon. What if he was baiting her? For now she stuck to dodging and trying to break the end of the spear with her very sharp and powerful claws. Again she was tempted to transform, she might even get away, but it was too risky. Once they knew what she was, they would use her weaknesses, like silver.
At another jab, Anja lunged to the side and stepped forward, grabbing the spear with her arm and held onto it. She tugged at it with all her might, hoping he would lose his grip on it. If he did, she would take it from him and throw it somewhere. If he didn't then she would hold on, maybe getting cut in the process
