• Back when we were kids, me and Aaron were the best of friends.

But one day, I ate Aaron 's piece of chocolate cake made by his mother, which was his

    lunch,

and he practically screamed all the bad things about me.

Back then I wasn't very mature and didn't think of his situation.

His mother suffered heart disease and had a stroke the night before,

but I didn't really thought about that before, so I yelled all the

bad things about him back, and even insulted his poor mother and

hardworking father. I saw his tears flowing out from his eyes rapidly that time.

There was no bawling or wailing or whining or what ever.

He just silently stood there and stared at me with piercing dagger eyes, that was filled with

tears. We didn't fight. We didn't hit each other. He just ran away and said coldly, "I never

want to see you ever again."

    No exclaiming. Just that.

Aaron then moved away , I don't know where he went. When I asked the teacher, she

merely told me to stop asking as Aaron 's parents did not want me to agitate him any

    longer.

    I was fine with it.

Now, 10 years later, Aaron 's father called me.

His father told me that his wife, Aaron 's mother died 8 years ago.

Aaron was so upset that he was lead into astray and kept smoking with his

    'gangster friends'.

He then told me the worst news.

He told me Aaron had just died from Emphysema just two days ago.

But he quit. He had quit smoking just three weeks ago but was too late

as he had damaged his lungs too severely and was not able to go for the operation

to cure his disease as his situation was too severe.

Aaron 's father told me that Aaron had written a letter to me and asked him to pass

it to me after his death.

Although I could only remember a little about him and me together, although most of the

time we would be fighting, although we were only just mere used-to-be friends,

I don't know why. These tears won't stop flowing. My chest felt heavy and my nose turned

sour. I wanted to cry like there was nothing left on this world for me to stay.

But I managed to tell his father that I would be at his funeral held tomorrow.

The next day, I met his father , his hair was pure white and his face was full of wrinkles, but

he still had his kind gentle smile like before. I wonder how I could remember all of

these memories. Maybe back then, it was the most enjoyable moment of my life.

After the ceremony, Aaron 's father passed me a letter.

I opened it up and started reading it.

    Hey Christopher,

remember me? Aaron? The guy whom recklessly screamed at you?

Well it was because you started it! That was probably, no that WAS the last

piece of cake made by my mother.

Ha ha, okay anyway, I wrote you this letter just to tell you that

I'm sorry and thank you for being my friend.

I knew that nobody at school would have talked to me if it wasn't for you.

I've learnt a lot when I was with you and even though we fight a lot,

you'll always be the best friend I'll ever have.

You must be wondering why I even bother to apologize to you, even though you were the

    jerk right? Ha ha.

It's because remember when we were kids? We dug a hole behind the large tree near my

house and buried time capsules which we placed in a piece of paper in each of our own

capsule, writing what we wish for. We made a promise to come back to the large tree

together, as friends and dig up the time capsules, remember? I bet not.

Go to my house, yes I still live at the same place. That tree.

Dig up the hole and you'll know what I and you wished for.

That's all and good bye, jerk , enemy , stealer and...

    best friend.

With that, I told Aaron 's father that I would be going to their house.

Upon reaching there, I walked to the tree, slowly.

I was thinking how much Aaron meant to me. And I wouldn't want our relationship to end

    like this.

I wiped away silent tears with the back of my hand and then started digging the fresh

covered up hole, knowing that that was the spot.

Taking out two boxes both made of metal.

I opened the first one, with the name 'Christopher' written on it.

    That's me.

I took out the piece of paper found in the box and it wrote,

'May Aaron be my friend forever no matter what comes between us in future'.

And then I took the box which had Aaron 's name on it.

Somewhere in my heart knew what he wrote.

'May Christopher be my friend forever no matter what comes between us in future'.
