• John sat there, looking at the fires that were spreading. He was in the middle of a field, writing down how this disaster all started. The light but caustic breeze blew over him and he remembered the old woman. Calling her "too rich for her own good" now seemed to be not only an understatement, but a reason to kill somebody, but that has been done already, so no more damage was needed.

"Mam, I'm not sure I like your idea for a weapon. This stuff is unknown, at best. Making a weapon might win the war, but it might just do that by killing everybody fighting in it."

"Sir, I have no time for refu..." She was cut off.

"I'm not saying I won't do it. I'm warning you of the risk."

John check that his pistol was on him. It was not the time to be worrying about what materials you had on you, but it was a gift so he wouldn't want the thought to be gone when his house finally burned to the ground. What was the next component? Oh yesh, a small joke on his late brother, actually building the weapon to try it.

"This should be enough to make use of the crystal's power, but I must stress how bad an idea I think this is."

"The whole war is a bad idea, ending by killing everybody there might be drastic, but save so much suffering."

John said out loud "blood stupid b*****d, if the crystal let us talk to each other from across the world, what made you think that you could just take out the energy and weaponize it?"

The pen wrote, and then John looked at the hospital burn. There were about... 15 people left in there? half of them nurses half of them ill kids that couldn't be move...

John quick ran away as yet another fireball almost landed near him. While the great orb of flame was a bit off, if John had not have moved then his book would have been burned for sure, personal injury were subjective.

"Are you sure that we should be doing this? I'm sure we are near enough to the war, and yesh both our home countries are far away, but I can't help but worry."

"Dear, this will all work out for the best, it always does around me."

John laughed. "Too wrong, weren't ya?"

John pulled out his gun and shot. The crazed man didn't even have a chance to threaten.

"Well, everything around the world is burning now. I guess it's just time to see who survives and what we can do about it... Oh s**t, more of them." And with that, John took off, mostly for personal safety and because learning what an oven feels like is never a good idea.
